Hello, Everyone!
Wow. I've been on Craftster for a while, lurking in
the shadows, reading tutorials and being intimidated
by all the beautiful items. But alas! My time to
post has come!

Prom last year, and due to the originality of my
class mates, this year as well, is a masquerade
theme. My school is selling masks along with
tickets, but they're lame and fragile and mass
produced. That, my fellow Craftsters, is lame beyond
belief. Everyone who isn't taking a paper plate mask
is buying a beautiful, if not somewhat generic, mask
online for insane prices. I say no! It is time to
let my craft shine! So, here is the mask I made to
go along with the dress from last year. I intend to
make another post shortly with the mask and dress
for this year once they are finished.

The mask is paper mache, painted black with purple
detailing. It has hand dyed feathers and a handle to
hold it to my face. I added a chain, studs and
rhinestones to give it glam as well as personality.
Not to mention it matches the studs on my dress. The
dress is black satin with a low back, deep neckline,
and my lucky studs and chains (normally worn on my
belt loops) for straps. I must say, the most
difficult thing in the world was cutting the dress
so the bulk of the weight wasn't on my neck. I
succeeded; the dress was very comfortable. I also
made matching earrings from some extra feathers, but
I wish I would have weighted them slightly so that
they wouldn't flutter so often.

All in all, I'm very proud.
