1  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / I love lamp. on: April 09, 2009 10:50:23 AM
I designed and built this lamp last week. Its made from a thin cardboard and metal staples with simple coat-hanger-and-styrofoam mounting gear. Designed as a sconce, the white wire will eventually be hard-wired into the wall.

2  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Building myself a new bed... on: November 17, 2008 07:01:17 AM
I was looking into buying myself a new bed for Christmas, but instead I thought it would be better to build my own: it will save me money, although not time, but I'll be able to customize exactly what I want.

Basically, I'm looking for some ideas. Does anyone have a really interesting bed? Any ideas of something neat/interesting/fun?
3  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Macro Photography - Hens and Chickens on: May 08, 2008 04:52:45 PM
A photo of my mum's hens and chickens plant. Colours and contrast were enhanced in photoshop. Enjoy.

4  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Recycled Pop-Can Candle Holder on: January 13, 2008 10:24:06 AM
So I was sitting on the floor in my bedroom this afternoon when I spotted an empty pop-can sitting on my dresser. I was feeling a little crafty so I grabbed it, some cardboard, and an exacto knife. Then I grabbed a pencil, some sissors, another empty pop can as well as my trusty PVA. Next thing you know, I've got an adorable candle holder. It kind of raddles when you move it, though.

What do you think? Let me know if anyone wants the tutorial for it (I took pictures along the way =D ).

5  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Carboard Dollhouse/House Model *UPDATED* on: November 26, 2007 09:49:12 AM

Second Floor:

The second floor needs finishing. And the roof (which I am dreading.)

Here are the rooms labelled:

6  FIBER ARTS / Weaving: Completed Projects / Baby Blanket on: November 26, 2007 06:17:43 AM
My neice had a baby earlier this year and I decided to weave a baby-blanket. And, of course, when I gave it to her she said: "Oh! Is this knitted?".
I get that a lot.

Here it is:

Here is a closeup of the weave:

Luckily the colours matched the nursery perfectly.
7  FIBER ARTS / Weaving: Completed Projects / More scarves... on: November 26, 2007 06:15:09 AM
Here are my first two scarves that I wove. Both the same pattern but different colours:

8  COOKING / Dessert / Lemon Fondant Birthday Cake on: November 26, 2007 06:08:00 AM
Okay. So this was my first attempt with Fondant Icing. It turned out well...lets just say it was a learning experience. I had been warned by many of people, but many of websites, and even my Martha Stewart that fondant icing is not the easiest thing in the world to work with. But I did it anyway. For my best friend's 18th birthday.

Here it is:

with a closeup of the stars:

...and with candles:

What do you think?

The actual cake has four layers of lemon curd, then is covered with vanilla buttercream icing then covered with lemon-flavoured fondant icing. All recipes (minus the fondant which is store-bought) are Martha Stewart.
9  FIBER ARTS / Weaving: Completed Projects / Hounds Tooth Scarf on: November 26, 2007 05:59:27 AM
Hey everyone,

Here's my latest weaving project:

I decided that since the hounds tooth pattern is so popular right now, that I'd make a scarf out of it! I think it turned out well. I still have to finish the ends.
