31  CRAFTSTER CRAFT CHALLENGES / Craftster Craft Challenge Theme Ideas, Etc. / 12 hour weekend webcam compulsive craft challenge on: May 27, 2005 04:32:56 PM
I have the idea least likely to ever be accepted but it's crazy enough to post Cheesy

12 hour weekend webcam compulsive craft challenge

Craftsters with webcams would be allowed to enter the contest. They'd have to stay up for 12 hours crafting on demand while a live feed on the main Craftster page had Leah's instructions on what the next project was, and you had to craft in front of the camera for everyone and stay up all 12 hours working!

hahaha, it's the most fiendesh challenge idea ever (maybe not)
32  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / Where To Find Things To Recycle / Maps for... Map Themed Projects? on: May 23, 2005 02:14:10 PM
This might be somewhat of a no-brainer, but many State Department of Transportation websites will send you free maps if you request them. Some of them also give out other kinds of travel guides and maps, some with many photos. Check them all out! I've recieved some from Wisconsin, New Mexico, North Carolina, Louisiana, and many more! Just search Yahoo or Google for Department of Transportation sites.
33  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Altoid Tin Shrine (my first): Dreams on: May 22, 2005 04:58:06 PM
Hey all, this is my first Altoid Tin shrine, and it was fun and easy to make! I'll give a pic of each side and then I'll explain a bit since the pictures aren't that fabulous...

Cover Outside
I started my theme with two things: the white ribbon with the gold edges to tie around the whole thing, and gum wrappers to mask the Altoids logos. I would have used gold or silver spray paint but my last encounter left my Altoids tins stuck shut. I also added another candy wrapper for the gold under the ribbon, and a cutout circle and star from my friend's going away party before he left to go to war. It has sentimental value, mmkay?  Cry

Cover Inside
I added a little message I came up with here, I typed it with a fancy font in MS Paint and then printed it on regular paper. It looked weird so I added more gold and silver gum and candy wrappers. The text reads:
Quote
Wake up! You will do great things and the world will love you but only if you try. Now is the time to stop simply dreaming when you could be making your dreams come true. Follow your heart and don't let anyone say you can not succeed.
I know it sounds kind of cheesy, but whatever.  Tongue

Bottom Inside
The deep part inside has some raffia my mom picked up in a free stuff box at a yard sale. I hot glued it in over a small piece of note paper and then added the thumb tack with some pieces over the middle. Under it peeking out are a few pieces from a 'silver dollar' plant.
Bottom Outside(no pics)
The outside buttom cover is just a gum wrapper. I put another gum wrapper over it because I actually glued my ribbon in place.

Let me know what you think! I'm definately gonna make more when I dig out some magazines for decoupage!  Wink
34  UNITED STATES / Michigan / Crafty People in Saginaw! on: May 22, 2005 11:33:45 AM
Am I the only crafty person in Saginaw? Please prove me wrong! I'd love to trade with people in the Tri-City area or find a crafting buddy  Huh
35  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Tips for Participating in Craft Fairs / Question about Bazaars and Craft Fairs on: April 28, 2005 12:35:04 PM
Sorry if I missed an answer to this when I was searching, but I had a question.
Do you have to have a business permit or income tax forms or any of that to sell crafts at a craft fair or a bazaar? A teacher of mine told me that normally at the school bazaar you don't have to, but I wondered if this was true or if it applied to all bazaars. Please let me know, I'd like to participate in one.  Huh
36  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Quarter Machine Toy Capsules on: April 26, 2005 12:45:36 PM
Sometimes I like to binge on the small alien toy things that come in those 25 cent machines at the grocery store. I have about 20-30 of the little plastic capsules they come in... any ideas? I tried sprouting seeds in a couple but didn't get it to work.
37  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Graffiti-ish Painted Plastic Cabinet on: April 25, 2005 07:22:16 PM
I had a gift card for Walmart and needed more storage for my room, so I got one of those great 3-drawered wheelie carts that are usually see through and plastic and boring. So when I got home, I taped up areas for line designs like a certain graffiti artist (ElTono) does with his artwirk, and spraypainted! Ok, well, it wasn't that simple. I suggest getting really good tape to tape off the lines, because my masking tape didn't work well, and I spent an hour with some paint thinner and a tiny paintbrush. Not cool. Perhaps a roller next time? Well, done with the rambling, here's the pics:

Sorry about the bad photo quality, and I'd show the other sides if it wasn't for all of the stuff weighing it down (wheels get stuck easily in carpet). Let me know what you think! Maybe when I go to college I'll end up makign a few more of these...
38  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Macrame Bracelet, Necklace, and Student ID Neck-Thing on: April 25, 2005 04:37:24 PM
Hello everyone, this is my first post here  Smiley

To show you today, I have one of my many passions which is macrame. I love yarn and macrame and beads and all of that good stuff, and these are a set I made for myself at school when I was bored.

Please let me know what you think. I'd be happy to post more when I make it. I'm trying out a few tutorials on making beads, but I'm afraid that's I've botched decoupage beads and salt/starch beads all in the same day  Embarrassed
