21  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Crazy Nutty Spicy Ramen on: October 21, 2005 09:19:55 AM
If you like nutty flavors, try this:

In a pan with slightly less water than you normally would use for ramen, boil some chopped onion and pepper, some mushrooms canned or dried or fresh if you have them. Then, when everything is cooked almost to your liking, add some hot sauce and some oyster sauce and the seasoning packet, then crush the ramen noodles and add them. Cook for 3 minutes. Add a few drops of sesame oil if you have it, then add a big heaping teaspoon or two of peanut butter (crunchy if you like it), and a few more shakes of hot sauce to taste. Makes a good after school snack and is pretty darn cheap if I say so myself Smiley

This is kinda the same as the previous bookmark swaps. Simply create 3 bookmarks however you like (paper, string, beads, decoupage, glitter, stamps.... HOWEVER YOU LIKE) and send one to each of the addresses given to you. The bookmarks you make don't have to match each other. It's a really free kinda swap. Hopefully everyone enjoys it as much as the first two bookmark swaps! Also, sending is pretty cheap and you don't have to get a shipping number and all that. Although you aren't required to have a shipping number, you are still responsible for getting your bookmark to its destination! There have been issues with items not arriving at their destinations in the previous swaps, so if you plan to make a very costly bookmark or one that requires a ton of work, getting a shipping number is STRONGLY recommended!

** ...but ever hear the expression 'too much of a good thing'? I plan to limit everyone to 7 bookmarks but have these people as the main swap angel contacts for this swap. Sorry, but it's a security thing. If someone trading 20 bookmarks flaked, thats ridiculous to call upon that many swap angels.

I think it'd be great to have a Wishlist/'Random Acts of Kindness' board or member area. It'd have a list of wants/needs and the user's mailing address.

As a part of the profile, there'd be no cluttered up board and you'd know how to find their wishlist and address.

As a subforum (under swaps maybe?), there'd be a way to search for who might want something you have, and it'd be easy to make it members only or members only after a certain number of posts (to make sure no one outside Craftster gets the addresses).

How does it sound?

This is quite possibly the craziest swap idea ever!

What you swap is not the craft you make. You make a craft, then you take various pictures of your craft project tied up, buried, on fire, thrown in the river, in a paper shredder, etc.
Then you send the 'ransom photos' and a short ransom note to the person you swap with.

29  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / State Lotto Bubble Sheet Playslips on: June 12, 2005 07:56:44 PM
Alrighty, here's an interesting one. A few years ago ago the state lotto ended one of their games. My mom saved a bunch of the bubble-sheet playslips from being thrown out where she worked at the time, so I have a few good stacks of them (maybe 200-300?). Any ideas? I'm thinking paper crafts but I'm a bit tired of making tiny notebooks for the time being.

Hey there! I figured I'd post this tonight so I don't forget in the ruckus around going back to school for my last few days, mowing the lawn, and submitting my photos for the Craftster challenge tomorrow! So here's my book, I hope ya don't think it's too shabby  Undecided

Here's a few comments I'd like to make on it:
  • The bat and arrow and heart stamps I made myself using extra scraps from sheets of foam I had that I cut out with my exacto knives and hot glued to those little toy capsules in the machines at the store.
  • The blood spatter type paper was done with red food coloring spattered on the paper.
  • The base paper is cut from a paper grocery bag.
  • The foil paper is from gum wrappers.
  • The quotes are from Dracula and Interview with the Vampire, typed in Courier New and printed out. The names and movies and such were typed in Typewriter New Roman, a free font.
  • There are a few pockets in the book, and I plan to add more to them, and possibly some little popup book type sliding mechanisms for animation. I love hands-on type stuff!
  • Yeah, there are a few pieces of shaving cream cards put in there too  Embarrassed Sorry, I got cuaght in the fad and it might not match the blue stamps or red blood spatter, but can I get an A for effort?

Alrighty, I'm done blabbin', so tell me what you think! Anyone, anyone???
