11  Re: library pockets..what to do?! help! in Scrapbooking: Discussion and Questions by dreamisle on: July 28, 2006 06:04:47 PM
I actually used some library due date cards to make ATCs:

If you would like, I would love to trade. I could make a set of 4 or 6 for you in the color you would want for your scrapbook and send them to you, and you could decorate a pocket in a similar style and send it to me.

14  Bookmark Swap 3! (SIGNUP FINISHED SEND BY August 31) in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by dreamisle on: July 22, 2005 06:52:48 PM

Swap name: Bookmark Swap 3
Craftster member who is organizing this swap: DreamIsle
Sign-up date range: July 22-August 19, 2005
Date to send item by: August 31, 2005

Limited to a certain number of people? no
Non-U.S. participants allowed? yes
All ages allowed? Or 18+? all ages
Organizer is aware of current list of "suspended traders"
list and will not allow those members to participate: YES (I think so anyway...)
Organizer meets the 4 conditions for swapping and will make sure that every participant meets these conditions: YES

Details of swap:
This is kinda the same as the last 2 bookmark swaps. Simply create 3 bookmarks however you like (paper, string, beads, decoupage, glitter, stamps.... HOWEVER YOU LIKE) and send one to each of the addresses given to you. The bookmarks you make don't have to match each other. It's a really free kinda swap. Hopefully everyone enjoys it as much as the first two bookmark swaps! Also, sending is pretty cheap and you don't have to get a shipping number and all that. - Changed 7/29 - Although you aren't required to have a shipping number, you are still responsible for getting your bookmark to its destination! There have been issues with items not arriving at their destinations in the last swap, so if you plan to make a very costly bookmark or one that requires a ton of work, getting a shipping number is STRONGLY recommended!

Here is the bookmark swap minisite, where you can check out bookmarks from past bookmark swaps and all that great stuff. http://dreamisle.dexxent.com/crafts/bms/

If you want to participate, information to send to organizer:

QUESTIONNAIRE TO ANSWER:
Name of swap (specify as PM title)
Craftster username
Email Address
Your real name and mailing address (exactly as if it were on an envelope)
Likes and/or Dislikes
Vital Questions!
Would you be willing to ship to an address outside of your own country?
If you participated in the last swap(s), are there any users you WOULD or WOULD NOT like to trade with again?
Would you be willing to be a swap angel (send additional bookmarks to users who were flaked upon)?
Would you like to trade more than 3 bookmarks? If so, how many?
Anything else you'd like to add?

Notes: If you don't specify whether or not you want to swap with someone who you swapped with last swap, I'm going to try to give you someone you haven't swapped with before. If you sign up to trade more than 7 bookmarks you'll be given 7 swap partners and automatically be signed up as a swap angel.

IF YOU WANT TO PARTICIPATE, REMEMBER TO SEND YOUR INFO TO ORGANIZER VIA PRIVATE MESSAGE AND NOT TO REPLY WITH IT HERE.

Entrants so far (number of bookmarks willing to swap):
OFFICIAL LIST OF ENTRANTS AND SWAP PARTNERS ON PAGE 4 OR AT OFFICIAL MINISITE

** ...but ever hear the expression 'too much of a good thing'? I plan to limit everyone to 7 bookmarks but have these people as the main swap angel contacts for this swap. Sorry, but it's a security thing. If someone trading 20 bookmarks flaked, thats ridiculous to call upon that many swap angels.
Also remember to read the Swap Info Guide to find out how to ship your item and other details about participating in a swap.ftp://

This one I sent to kmsmaverick. I made it especially because she wanted something about where I live, so they're actual pictures from around Michigan. The bookmark below was what I was going to send originally, but since I changed to the Michigan one I sent this to a friend of mine in Georgia.

Petunia just PMed saying she got hers, so here it is:

I'll post the others as I find out they arrived!

The other bookmarks are different, so for the two that haven't recieved yet, don't expect what you see Petunia recieved. By the way, you can try changing the URLs of the pictures to see the other two, but I'm sneaky and used funny filenames  Wink

18  Checkerboard with Muffin Pan Storage by dreamisle in Craftster Craft Challenges by dreamisle on: May 31, 2005 01:04:04 PM
Ugh! I'm such a failure! Well, I can honestly say that I could have hunted out better stuff at other dollar stores, but my brilliant idea of making a checkerboard still can't outdo some of the projects I see here. Great job everyone!  Smiley

For my checkerboard centerpiece I spent $5 at the 1 Dollar Bargain place.
  • $1 - Foam sheets used for the board and decorations on the cups and the little throne pieces that go under 'kinged' pieces (not shown)
  • $1 - Muffin baking pan used for the base of this centerpiece to store the pieces in cups
  • $1 - Plastic glass-looking pieces for playing the game. 3 colors, 16 of each piece (12 and 4 replacement)
  • $2 - Two votive candle holders for the end of the board, either to hold captured pieces or for candles or sand or whatever I'd use if I wanted to make it adapt to the theme of a room.
  • Hot Glue not included in total
  • Use of exacto knives not included in total
The board part rests nicely atop the pan and the pieces fit beneath without making bumps. Since the pieces don't stack well (at all), I cut extra squares of thefoam to make little star shaped 'thrones' underneath the 'kinged' pieces. The votive cups stay in fairly well but I haven't exactly tried shaking the whole thing upsidedown yet. I used blue and white for the board because the yellow foam didn't match the yellowish-green-ness of the yellowish-green pieces.  Undecided
