41  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Altoid tin theme swap (Signups CLOSED; sendout 2/21) on: February 10, 2006 07:44:38 PM
Ah!  Those are great and have their place in the "altered world"!  I have been sanding and sanding and now have delightfully silver hands!

What a wonderfully proactive swap leader! I like that in a swap leader!

After swearing off swaps after being flaked repeatedly, I can't resist!  This sounds so great I can't even stand it... So, I shall join in and put my trust in you!  How could you go wrong with an Altoid lover really though...
44  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: wrist warmers??? on: January 28, 2006 08:08:08 PM
I bought my yarn at knitpicks - it is sock yarn and looks like it is going to take about 1 skein for each arm.
45  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Learning to Knit on: January 27, 2006 07:05:08 PM
A few years ago (I am 30) I bought one of those kits for about 8 year olds and taught myself - it worked really well.  I would suggest finding a group of knitters too.  It is much easier to have someone show you in person and there are groups all over - at yarn stores, community centers, churches and the internet groups.

I buy lots of yarn from www.knitpicks.com for their prices and how they have patterns to go with each yarn.

Good luck with it all!!

I am making some "arm warmers" that go all the way up past my elbow!  They might be more arm-ish than wrist-ish!
47  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Stitch Holders for the cheap on: January 24, 2006 11:03:23 AM

I am making long arm warmers and needed to put the stitches on stitch holders so I can make the other one before I do the thumb gussets.  I am stitch holder-less and just used some big paper clips!  They work great, are portable, cheap and re-usable!

I really like it - not too slippery or scratchy.  I am loving to knit with it - I am making arm warmers though.  I so love seeing the magic stripes appear!

Gorgeous, and I love the color!

Um... I did air fluff, so no heat.  Probably about 5 minutes or less.  It got rather soft too!  added bonus!
