1  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Re: new painting - Saturdays at Sully's - in two colors on: November 25, 2014 04:20:48 PM
Beautiful work! I was surprised to see this on craftster because I know this picture, my g-g-grandmother was from Caswell Co., NC where the original picture was taken.

I'm surprised that a few people know this picture!! Because I never saw it before. I thought I found this great old photo that nobody else saw. I liked it because it reminded me of "Sullys", a store I used to pass on my way to school when I was a kid; it too had a plank front porch. Had I known this picture was that well known I wouldn't have painted it. But thanks for the kind words!

Haven't painted much in a long while but one day I decided to try my hand at a two color composition in black and white. Much to my surprise, I enjoyed working in just the two colors. It is worked in acrylics on aquabord 18"x24".

Wow, she looks awesome! I love all the little extra details you added, like the flowers and the texturing on the bottom of her skirt. Awesome job. ^_^

Oh and isn't that always the "fun" part!!! Thanks for your reply!

Wow, she looks spot on! I knew immediately who she was. Your granddaughter is a lucky kiddo!

Thanks August...a lot of people probably don't who she is, but my grand daughter sure does!!

This is my take on Princess Peach. My grand daughter is absolutely ga-ga for Princess Peach from the Super Mario brother's game and asked me to knit a Princess Peach doll for her. Since there is no pattern for a knitted one, I had to create my own. And here is the result. She is 19 inches tall and cute as a button. The second picture is the cartoon image that I tried to make my doll look like. Hope you like her!

Just added two more pics, last pic shows her in the begining stages.

I am floored, and craving jellybeans.  Tongue
Absolutely amazing. I can't imagine doing something as intricate as that.

Sorry, all this time I thought I answered this. Thank you for liking it. It's nice to know all that hard work and about a million burnt finger tips later that all that work was worth it and that it is appreciated.

I am or WAS hoping to post this picture on pintrest but I absolutely failed at that. I tried testing with some other things but then I never saw them there after I posted them or thought I posted them, so I just gave up. If anybody can manage to get this picture up (one up top) for me...sure would appreciate it.

PS: According to my latest calculations there are approx. 13,000 jelly beans used to make Jerusalem give, or take a hundred.

It turned out absolutely incredible! It's beautiful and what a feat!!! Thank you so much for sharing it and the process. It surely has been a journey for you.

Thank you! Yes, it was quite a journey! But right now, after fussing with putting up the you tube video, I feel like THAT was the more major accomplishment!!  LOL!
