Well, I finally have a finished Clappy to show off. I started this Mid march and finished about 2 weeks ago. I got off of my lazy butt last night and blocked it. Here she is in all her glory:

Blocking:

She's ready for her close up Mr. DeMille:

I used Noro Shinano Color 13, about 6 skeins total, on size 8 needles. I have 2 left over - I really should have made it longer. The pre-blocking measurements were approx. 60 x 15 and now are 74 x 25.  Pretty damn good. Oh, and I discovered I HATE blocking.  Oh well. A few more pictures are here  http://www.flickr.com/photos/cinimonstk/tags/clapotis/, and eventually I'll update my blog.  Finally, something is finito!

I was a bit bored today and came up with a Team California button... I haven't seen any yet.

Wink
YES!! I have been looking for a Team California button to put on my blog. I'll save it when I get home and add to my blog. WOOT.

I'm doing this shawl from the Fall '05 Vogue Knitting:

I've done some lace before, but nothing like this. I'm hoping to post progress pics each day of the Olympics on my blog here: http://www.livejournal.com/users/meglawson/

That is, if my three-month-old will let me. Wink

I started doing that shawl shortly after the magazine came out...I still haven't finished it, and it's for my mom too!  I am only about 10 inches or so in. And I don't have enough yarn, because we bought the mag & yarn same day, and dumb me forgot to check for errors in the pattern - Vogue put the wrong yardage & yarn in the magazine. So if I do finish, I'll not put the pointy parts on the end.  Too bad I already started this or I would use this for my Olympic item as well.  Anyhoo, I ramble on. Good luck!

So I finally freakin' finished. I actually finished it about 3 weeks ago, I was just slacking on posting the pics. I gave it to my brother's girlfirend since it made me look like a heifer.  Anyhoo, here is the mandatory headless pic:

The other pic is it laying on the kitchen floor.  I really did like it, it just didn't look right on me. Maybe I will make another one, and just make the sleeves longer.

Well, here is my progress so far:

haha that little piece of pink yarn is tied on there so I know which side is the wrong side  Cheesy

I finally figured out the drop stitches.  I used 10 1/2 as my smaller needle and 13 as the larger. I hope it looks alright. If it comes out great in this yarn, I'm doing another in the Cotton Ease. I'm off of work tomorrow, so more time to work on it!

tinybits - that would suck if you cast on too much. What I did was cast on the inital 42 the pattern called for, knit one row and measured it around my arm (the fattest part!). It was too small, so then I tried 86 stitches, too big.  Finally I measured around my arm (I think it was 16 inches) and laid out the one row I had knit and counted out the number of stitches that fit into 16 inches. I think it was 52 so I added four more since I didn't want it snug. I think I started over at least 3 times until I had it "right".  I have no idea if that is the right way to do things, but it worked for me.  I've never knitted any kind of garment before, so it's all new territory to me.  I just hope it works out!

Here is mine!! I made it for yogirly87 in the color swap. She requested hot pink:

wow that looks awesome!  I love the color!  I plan to start work on mine this weekend (on my way to VEGAS!) - it'll be green, green for money!  I can't wait to start it.
