1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / My first (wearable) skirt on: February 07, 2012 07:41:48 PM
I finally got around to making a craftster account! For my first post ever, I wanted to show off a skirt I finished sewing up yesterday!

I made a skirt before, but I wasn't that great at sewing a clean, straight line, and never realized I had a twin needle stashed away in my sewing chest. So this is my first complete attempt!

ANYHOO

I call this "Rose Truffle"

There's the entire skirt laid out. I did a simple gathered rectangle with an elastic waist band. (I really love the fabric)

There's a close up of the waist band. I fudged a part of the ruffling up, so I covered it up with a band sewn down over top the actual waist band.

Here's a close up of my ruffles. I did a zigzag stitch overtop a free piece of heavy duty Coats and Clark to make the gathering easier.

Because of the gathers, it took me about 6 hours between one evening and the following afternoon. My next project will be making a petticoat for this. It looks sort of like a bag without anything supporting it. LOL
