41  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Wood Spool Necklace - decoupaged with upcycled paper from a catalog page on: April 27, 2012 09:57:46 AM

I make spool necklaces from three mini-wooden spools (3/4" long) and two smaller spools that are (1/2" long) that have been painted and slightly distressed. I love to recycle and re-purpose paper when I can. The designs decoupaged onto the spools come from magazines and catalogs. The abstract Art Nouveau design on this necklace came from an upcycled catalog image.

43  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Upcycled Magazine Page Paper Brooch on: April 27, 2012 09:35:48 AM
I created this orange flowered brooch from layers of paper chosen from upcycled magazines and catalogs. You can use any paper sources you have on hand and create a colorful brooch that is a piece of wearable art.

I used a 1 5/8" circle punch to cut out four designs that complimented each other. I then stabilized them with punched out circles from a damaged hardcover novel. You then stack the circles in an eye pleasing manner and sew them down the center. 45  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Brooch made from an Anthropologie Catalog on: April 27, 2012 08:04:21 AM

Hi, do you like to play with paper. I created a circular 3D brooch from magazine and catalog pages. The paper brooch is easy to make and the possibilities are endless. It is an eco friendly craft because you use paper sources that are destined for the recycling bin.

The brooch is created from four circular images. I used a 1 5/8" paper punch to cut out my circles. I then reinforced them with circles cut from a damaged hardcover book. You then arrange the circles in an eye pleasing manner and sew them down the center. For step by step instructions with photos, see my blog post: http://wendylynnspaperwhims.blogspot.com/2012/03/how-to-make-3d-paper-brooch-paper.html

If you have questions, please contact me. I would love to see any paper brooches that you create.

This paper brooch is very eco friendly. It is made from magazine images, a damaged book page and a cereal box. The eggplant image is cut from a Dolce&Gabanna dress advertisement. If you would like to make a 3D paper brooch like this one, please see my tutorial: http://wendylynnspaperwhims.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
