11  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Glass Tile Pendants - Textured on: November 12, 2013 09:29:07 AM

These colorful and unique pendants were made from altered glass tiles from the home improvement store. The tiles are embellished with a raised and textured grid pattern. The tiles have been painted with acrylic paints. The tile measures 1 7/8 x 1/2 inches. A recycled silver colored metal nut is attached as a bail. I used glossy accents as my glue. First attaching the nut and letting the glue dry overnight. The next day I added more glossy accents around the base of the nut to reinforce the hold.

There are so many ways you could alter one of these tiles. Let your imagination fly free with this project!

This brown tile with a pink heart pendant is made from an altered glass tile from the home improvement store. The tile is painted brown and embellished with a raised pink and orange heart. The heart is foam that was cut with a diecut machine. The heart is painted with pink and red paint and attached to the tile with glossy accents.

The pendant is strung on 18 inches of dark copper chain with a spring ring closure.

These pendants are so much fun to make. There are so many possible ways to alter the glass tiles and make them into wearable art.
13  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Floral Doodle Rubber Stamped Pendant on: October 19, 2013 06:05:54 PM

This retro inspired orange and pink pendant is made from an altered glass tile from the home improvement store. I adhered a piece of white fabric to the front of the tile with glossy accents. The fabric was painted with watered down orange and pink acrylic paints. I rubber stamped the floral doodles (Hampton Art) with permanent ink. The piece is sealed with water based varnish. A pink howlite skull bead is attached with a scrap of black chain.

The tile measures 1 7/8 x 1/2 inches. A black painted metal nut is attached as a bail. I used glossy accents as my glue. First attaching the nut and letting the glue dry overnight. The next day I added more glossy accents around the base of the nut to reinforce the hold.
14  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Vintage Glove Altered Glass Tile on: October 09, 2013 07:48:41 AM

This vintage and steampunk inspired pendant is made from an altered glass tile from the home improvement store. The tile was painted with red, pink and orange acrylic paints. The antique key image is rubber stamped onto the pendant with permanent ink. I sealed the piece with water based varnish. I attached a plastic vintage glove with glossy accents as my glue. I painted a hardware nut black and glued it on as a bail.
15  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Altered Glass Tile Pendant Necklace - Ink Dyed Steampunk on: October 09, 2013 07:43:07 AM
I sealed the alcohol inks with a water based matte varnish. I apply varnish with a cosmetic sponge wedge so that I don't get brush marks. Dab on first coat so you don't spread the ink. Let that dry and then apply a heavier coat. Hope that answers your question!
16  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Grungy Lace Altered Glass Tile Pendant on: September 25, 2013 01:06:32 PM

This grungy lace pendant is made from an altered glass tile from the home improvement store. The tile has been altered with acrylic paint and a scrap of lace. The tile was painted off white and the scrap of lace was painted grey/gray. I attached the lace to the pendant with Glossy Accents. Once the GA was dry, I drybrushed the red accents onto the tile. The tile was then sealed with water based varnish.

The tile measures 1 7/8 x 1/2 inches and has a well weathered silver colored metal nut attached as a bail. I used Ranger Glossy Accents for my glue. I attached the nut and let it dry overnight. Then I used the GA all around the base of the nut again to really reinforce the bond.

The pendant is strung on 20 inches of chain with a barrel clasp. To use up some of my smaller pieces of chain, I joined the pieces with an enameled square. The pendant has a tattered and rustic vibe to it. I hope you will make one for yourself.

17  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Altered Glass Tile Pendant Necklace - Funky Foliage on: September 21, 2013 08:18:43 AM

This unique pendant is made from an altered glass tile from the home improvement store. The pendant is embellished with a raised foliage pattern. The funky fern is die cut from fun foam. Really...who knew? I painted the front and back of the tile with orange acrylic paint. I painted the fern brown and attached it to the tile with Glossy Accents. I then did some color washes and dry brushing to achieve the distressed and weathered final look. The piece is sealed with water based varnish.

The tile measures 1 7/8 x 1/2 inches. A rusty silver colored metal nut rescued from my husband's hardware discards is attached as a bail. I used Glossy Accents to glue the nut on and let it dry overnight. Then I used the Glossy Accents all around the base of the nut again to really reinforce the bond.

The pendant is tied on a 24" steel colored ball chain with a scrap of off white leather. The necklace has an organic earthy vibe.
18  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Altered Glass Tile Pendant Necklace - Ink Dyed Steampunk on: September 20, 2013 11:01:52 AM

This ink dyed pendant is made from an altered glass tile from the home improvement store. The tile was dyed with Ranger alcohol inks in various colors. I used my finger to spread on a base color and then I dripped the other colors on top and let them spread and mix until I got this colorful pattern.  I added two steampunk gears and cogs to give it a steampunk vibe. The tile measures 1 7/8 x 1/2 inches and has a silver colored metal nut attached as a bail. I used glossy accents as my glue. The pendant is strung on a 24" steel colored ball chain.
19  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / French Inspired Brooch on: August 14, 2013 02:19:27 PM
I created this brooch with an altered Memory Game piece. I covered both sides of the card with design papers. I then rubber stamped on the french design with a stamp from Hampton Art. The girl is from an unknown collage sheet (she was at the bottom of my scraps collection). I used watercolor crayons and oil pastels around the edges of the brooch. To protect the image and paper, I put a layer of clear contact paper over the top of the brooch. The brooch is embellished with a turquoise gem.
