11  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Nightmare Before Christmas trinket box on: January 29, 2014 04:16:09 PM
I made this little jewelry/trinket box quite a waaay back for the Tim Burton swap.  I'm just a tad late posting  Embarrassed
Ahh well.  The image used is NOT my original art.  For shame, I know, but I used the image because my partner had it on her Pinterest with emphatic notes about how much she loved it, so I thought it would be perfect.  Pinterest links it back to invaderzim91 on deviantart.com, who has apparently deactivated their account.  Please, if anyone knows an active account or website that I can link this to in order to give proper credit let me know.  Thanks.

Anyway, back to the project. I transferred the image using the good old graphite on one side of the paper and trace technique, then simply painted to the best of my ability.  Sad, but true.  Afterward, I realized the bottom swirly is all wrong. Whoops! Lastly, I added a little felt liner on the bottom and on the inside. Viola!  A cute little trinket box that I kinda wanted to keep.  I hope my partner found some use for it!

I guess the inside could have used a little something, but it's hard crafting with a hyper active 2 year old running around.  Shocked
12  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / The Pincushion Queen on: January 29, 2014 03:47:20 PM
So, I made this doll for my partner in the Tim Burton swap a looong time ago, but I was just realizing how horribly long it's been since I posted any projects.  As a result I have a lot of unposted projects that I hope to be getting to in the next few weeks.  Anyway, She is mostly crochet, but I wanted to do something a little different, step outside my comfort zone a tad. He arms and legs are chenille stems with pony beads - yes, very sophisticated! Lol!  I did the details with felt and embroidery thread. I hope my partner is enjoying her!

I made this amigurumi for my partner in the One Tiny Monster Swap (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=421152.0#axzz2SBvC5TD7) last month.  The crafted item had to be 3 dimensional, and no larger than 4 inches.  I had a hard time making it small enough to include the traditional long neck and still cute and baby-like, so I decided that sea/loch monsters are most likely hatched with short necks and then undergo a neck growth spurt in their early years. Wink  Anyway, on to pics.

I can't believe I'm in my sixth month of ATC swapping!  The time has flown ridiculously!  Anyway, I'm still loving it!

These are the ATCs that I made for the ongoing swap.

(sorry for the blurry pic!)

16  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Bullfrog (with free pattern link) on: March 20, 2013 10:10:02 AM
Hey everyone!

I made this crochet bullfrog for my two-year-old as a gift for the Spring equinox.  I had received a knit frog in a swap, & he fell in love with it, but as he is destructive, and I treasure my handmade gifts, I didn't really let him play with it.  So I decided to crochet him his own friend.

I originally made the back leg and foot as one long piece that got thinner at the knee and ankle, but I couldn't really fold the legs up too well, even with wire in it.  So, I decided to make the leg in three pieces.  I'm so glad I did because it looks much better!  Sorry I don't have before picks, but here he is all finished up.

If you'd like to make your own bullfrog, I posted a free pattern on my blog!
17  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) / Personal Swaps! on: March 03, 2013 11:16:18 PM
Okay, so I think I have full-blown ATC mania!  This is only getting more and more fun. These are some ATCs that I made for a couple of personal swaps in February.  I went a little cat crazy!  I'm not much of a cat person (mostly due to severe allergies,) but I found that I really enjoy drawing them.  The first one is my absolute fave, but I was pretty happy with most of these.

(he's supposedly yawning, not hissing -- hopefully it reads mostly right)

and a couple of non-kitty ones too   Smiley

18  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Snoopy on: February 04, 2013 03:22:35 PM
I made this for the Winter OTT swap.  (Yes, I'm a little late posting  Embarrassed )
Anyway, I rarely follow a pattern to the T, but I did with this one.  Here's the link in case you wish to make your own beagle!

the only thing is that I made a crochet version of the scarf, because I don't know how to knit.

Hope you like him! Thanks for looking Smiley
19  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) / a couple of personal swaps & January's ATCs on: February 02, 2013 06:20:46 PM
I did these for a personal swap.

This one is for a personal swap I'm doing with someone from a different site.  We both share a love of monstrous creatures & Nosferatu in specific!

It's all color pencil & ebony pencil.  I kinda wanted to add some black ink to it, but I'm afraid to screw it up because I don't have the steadiest hand.  What do you guys think?

This a set of two that fit together as one scene.

They are supposed to be a vintage 20's Raccoon couple at the beach.

I've been kind of all over the place with my technique and style.  I wonder if I'll ever "settle" into something.
Anyway, these are my ATCs for the January ongoing swap:

Well, that's it!  I had a lot of fun this month!
Thanks for looking!

20  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Gremlin on: January 31, 2013 10:26:14 AM
I made this guy for a swap in another group back in December.  My swap partner's favorite Christmas movie was Gremlins.  Lucky for me, I found this (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/stripe-the-gremlin) pattern, which helped a lot.  For some reason I couldn't quite follow the body section of the pattern, so I improvised that part trying to copy it as closely as possible, & I also added a nose.  I had a hard time giving him away because he turned out to be one of my favorite amis that I've made.

He didn't like the flash from my camera too much!!

I hope you like him!
