Love the stumpy fairy house!

Bears!?  Shocked  I love bears, but I'm not sure I'd want to come home to find one rummaging through my refrigerator!
843  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Re: Kodama and an Amanita Mushroom on: July 14, 2014 09:49:14 PM
Thanks!

CaraLynn, they are forest spirits from the anime movie Princess Mononoke.  You can see clips of them on youtube if you are interested.  Smiley
844  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Kodama and an Amanita Mushroom on: July 14, 2014 11:29:57 AM
I made these for Acadian Driftwood in the WC&EF swap.  I love both Kodama and mushrooms, so when she listed them as some of her forest faves I couldn't resist.  The sitting Kodama, and the one with the stake coming out of it's foot are potted plant/garden decor.  The Kodama with the blue ribbon is an ornament.  She mentioned wanting an ornament for her car, so I thought she might like this.  I decided to make the mushroom a pendant.  I used colored clay for all of them, and then I glazed with sculpey glaze.  Super simple.  They all have fingerprints, dust, and other such imperfections.  Not sure if that sucks or just adds character.   Undecided

I couldn't resist making myself a Kodama for my planted terrarium

I wanted to make myself an amanita too, but I used the last of my white on this one.  I love sculpting even though I'm not very good at it.  I think I'll just embrace my primitive style rather than stress myself out over being good at it.  I'm happy with that.  Smiley

Thanks for looking!

Oh wow! That is adorable.  Your detail is, as usual, astounding!  <3

I love her!  Okay, so I asked a similar question on one of your other posts about the paint, but now that I know you use acrylics, I'm wondering if you use artist acrylics, or the craft ones.  Do you use iridescent paint, the iridescent acrylic medium, or those powders that they sell in the clay isle?  Sorry for all the Q's, I just really enjoy working with clay (at a much more remedial level than you!) and I love how your color always looks.  Thanks again!

She's beautiful!  Do you do all the color/painting after she's done, or do you ever use colored clay?  Also, I was wondering if you use regular craft paint, or do you have a special paint that you use.  Whatever you use it looks great!  Thanks in advance.  Smiley

I never realized that some post offices weren't open on Saturday!  Sorry for being city-centric(?)!  I'm largely ignorant about how the rest of the country works as I'm a born and raised urban California native.  I can make the due date earlier in the week for sure.  As for make-believe plants, I am going to include that question as part of the questionnaire.  That way your swap partner will know your preference and hopefully craft accordingly. How long will the sing-up time be? I think I might be able to pull this off in between travels (will be home for a total of one week during the crafting time Tongue) if we get our partners soon after sign-ups. But maybe that won't be a problem if this is a small swap?

Oh, maybe a week and a half?  So that would be what, August 6th?  I guess that would push the due date out a week too huh?  So that would mean it would be due Saturday, August 30?  (I like Saturday due dates.)  Obviously, I'm new at this and a bit in-over-my-head, but hey it's the best way to learn to swim right? Artsycandice, that will give you a bit more time!

Absolutely! This would be tons of fun!  I'm thinking preserves, salves, aprons, quilts, knits, leather work, tribal jewelry, the list is endless!
