131  Re: Surpise Halloween ATC swap 2012 in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by La Chapa on: October 01, 2012 05:39:02 PM
I received from two people today!  AND I got two ATCs from each one!

I got these wonderful cards and extras from Witchhippie:

I really love the hand drawn jack o' lantern!  The background looks like snow, and I love the concept of a wintery Halloween!  Also, you can't see this in the picture, but it has some subtle glittery accents.

Thanks Witchhippie!

AND, I got these as well as this cute hand made card from NH822!

Aren't they great?!  I'm in love with the elegant little moon one.

Thanks NH822!

I feel so lucky!

132  Re: Monster Swap Round 4 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by La Chapa on: September 08, 2012 09:49:46 PM
Here are the images I promised earlier of everything I got from geekygamergirl.  I LOVE my package, so please excuse the overabundance of photos.

First off, the inside of the box was so colorful and creative that I HAD to share:

Here are the goods:

An adorable bead spider, which my toddler found quite interesting

some cute stickers

The cutest little furry, fuzzy, monster puff in one of my favorite colors

An awesome Cthulhu hoop

AND, the most amazing Bride of Frankenstein doll ever!

Here she is as a movie star! Wink

a detail of her face, if you're interested

and her and Jack getting aquainted!  I have to admit, I was a bit jealous because Jack has never been this excited about any of the other new members of my stuffie collection!

And, here's Cthulhu and Gizmo getting to know each other...

These are my only two hoopla that I have, and their both monsters!  I officially have a monster hoopla collection!

I am just blown away by the awesomeness of my package!  I am positively tickled!  I can only hope that geekygamergirl likes her package half as much as I like mine.

Thanks a billion geekygamergirl!!!!!!!!!!!

133  Cupcake and Sugar Skull Badges in Completed Projects by La Chapa on: August 24, 2012 08:07:37 PM
Looking through my posts, I realized that I never posted these!  These were my very first felt badges from the first round of the felt badge swap.  I forgot to include something in the picture for size reference before sending them off to their new homes, but they are 3 inches tall.  This is the very first embroidery that I've ever done.

The cupcake was my first one, and I learned back stitch, satin stitch , and whip stitch with that one.  The sugar skull was my second one, and I learned how to do a french knot and a daisy stitch.  I love how they turned out, and have completely fallen in love with this strange little craft.  I can't wait till round 3 of the felt badge swap!

134  Mr. & Mrs. Scarecrow in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by La Chapa on: August 19, 2012 05:52:16 PM
I don't really know if they're married, but thought it made a good subject line. Tongue  Anyway, I usually post in the crochet board, but this is so my favorite board, so I thought I'd post here for a change.   Smiley

These are supposed to be well dressed scarecrows with pumpkins for heads.  The girl's head looks like an orange to me.  I think it may be a little too round.  Also, maybe the orange is too light?  I used a darker orange for his head and then I found an orange that was actually called "pumpkin" so I bought it and used it for her head, but I think I like the darker one (which by the way is called "carrot") better.  Anyway, autumn is my favorite time of year!  Hope you guys like 'em!

thanks for looking!

135  Simple little octopus in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by La Chapa on: August 04, 2012 12:48:36 AM
Okay, so I'm editing this post a little because apparently, as is, it seems a little too much like marketing for sales. So to remove any doubts... I made this guy by crocheting a simple ball, then for the tentacles you just crochet a chain (as long as you think you want your tentacles to be) and put 2 sc in each chain.  This creates that spiral effect!  Then you just attach them to the ball.  Have fun making your own little octopus!

This little one was so quick to make, but I think she is super cute!

136  How's about a slice of chocolate cake... in Crochet: Completed Projects by La Chapa on: July 27, 2012 02:36:06 PM
...with white buttercream frosting and topped with a strawberry dipped in white chocolate and then drizzled with milk chocolate?  Yes?

okay, so the strawberry looks a bit radishy, but I still like it.  This is my first crocheted food item (other than some easter eggs I made)  Thanks for looking!

137  Ladybug in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by La Chapa on: July 27, 2012 02:21:24 PM
Hi!
I made this ladybug ami for my partner in the insect swap.  I used buttons for the spots., and chenille stems in her legs so she would be able to stand up without rolling around.  Thanks for looking!

139  Bug plant markers and garden stakes - my first poly clay project in Polymer Clay: Completed Projects by La Chapa on: July 20, 2012 10:07:44 PM
These were made for the Isect Swap.  My idea was that they could be used interchangeably as plant markers or just decoratively as garden stakes.

So, I used bamboo chopsticks from the dollar store, and unlined index cards for the labels.

My favorites are the worms (which were supposed to be caterpillars, but look more like worms to me.)  Even though the yellow one looks more like an octopus tentacle. (Note to self, polka dots do not work for worms!)

Okay, so this is my first foray into poly clay, and I obviously need some tools other than just my thick fingers and a pencil.
As far as tools go, what are some of your guys favorites for poly clay?  Oh, and what do you prefer to use as a finish?  Thanks in advance!
