131  Re: Ongoing ATC Swap - January 2013 Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by La Chapa on: January 11, 2013 07:25:05 PM
I have another awesome ATC by blupaisan for you all!  It is for my extinct animals theme.

This is a Caspian Tiger.  It became extinct 50 yrs ago thanks to man encroaching on its habitat.  It was 10 feet in lenth!

I love how she included facts to go along with the ATC.  I love this ATC so much!  I am a huge nerd at heart and this ATC appeals to the nerd in me on every level!
Thank you blupaisan!  I hope that you will claim me again for my nerdy theme, sometime, maybe, perhaps, if you enjoyed it that is!  Smiley

Grin So glad you got them!  It took a couple days longer than I expected & I was starting to worry that maybe I hadn't put enough postage on it.  I couldn't really get the gold to show up too well in my scan either Sad looks more brown than anything else

gozer's ATCs rule!  Had to say that!

Anyway, I got an ATC from Robinpich that also rules!

I love it so much!  It has awesome stitching details, and such interesting elements.  The "O" & "L" are fabric!  They look like they were perhaps salvaged from old t-shirts?  Super cool technique!  I must say, I had no idea that you could run paper through a sewing machine!  Thanks Robin!

136  A Halloween trio in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by La Chapa on: December 16, 2012 04:33:18 PM
First of all, I know that there is an amigurumi board, but I get bored always posting to the same board, plus I love this board so much that I really want to participate here as more than just an admirer.
Secondly, I'm posting these super late since Halloween was almost two months ago, sorry.

The mummy is only about 3.5 inches tall.  He turned out to be my favorite.  He is worked in backloops only, to create that ribbed look.  The owl is my second favorite.

here are some addtional pics

THanks for looking!

138  a menager-ami in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by La Chapa on: December 13, 2012 12:07:48 PM
I've been trying to catch my posting up with my crafting, so here are a few amis that I've made in the last year that never got their own thread.  Nothing too spectacular, which is why I waited to have a bunch to post, but nevertheless I like them and am proud of them.

this adorable mini pocket bug is only a few inches tall!

a pokeball.  My son was really into pokeman for a while.  Now my younger son uses it as an indoor ball.  He hasn't learned not to throw it at people when they aren't looking yet, so i'm glad it's soft!

this cute little turtle which i actually made a long time ago.  Love this pattern, but his head was a little heavy, so I would suggest weighting down his body with beans, beads or something so he doesn't faceplant.

this is actually a rattle that I made up, also for a swap.  I used one of those little plastic bubbles that you get from those crank vending machines with little toys in it & filled it with beads to make the rattle device!

this chili pepper (also for a swap).  I really enjoyed this pattern because it replicates the asymmetry of a real chile pepper.

I have a bunch more, but they are all fall/Halloween themed, so I think I will make a separate post for them. (Hopefully I actually get around to it!)

Well, thanks for looking!

139  Bookmarks in Crochet: Completed Projects by La Chapa on: December 13, 2012 09:31:21 AM
I was browsing through my pictures and found some items that I never got around to posting.  I want to try to catch up before the New Year, so I'm starting with these bookmarks.  I made these bookmarks for a swap earlier this year.   I really ended-up liking them and planned to make some for myself, but never got around to doing it.  (seems like I don't get around to a lot of things!)  Anyway, I seem to have a hard time revisiting projects.  I'm a love 'em and leave 'em type I guess, because I rarely work the same project/pattern twice.  Ah well, maybe one day I'll make a set for myself.

here's the patterns I used if you'd like to make a set for yourself:

140  ATCs, my first! in Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) by La Chapa on: December 06, 2012 12:02:11 PM

(just a little photo shuffle for the topic thumbnail Wink )

So, a few months back I joined the beginner inchies swap which although didn't quite hook me, did  in fact whet my appetite for tiny works of art.  Then, I decided to join the surprise Hallween ATC swap and that was that!  I'm now officially hooked and on to my third ongoing ATC swap.  (Most of these images can be seen in the various swap galleries.)

the inchies that started it all

for the surprise Halloween ATC swap I made these two series...

(the one @ the top) &

and these "people" (I ended up using one of these for the ongoing swap as I had an extra left over)

These are for the October ongoing swap...

(the moon flips over on this one)

there's a few missing as I forgot to take pics :/

and these are for the November ongoing swap...

the wings come up!

there are two more, but one hasn't been received yet, and the other may or may not have been received yet

As you can see, I have found a new love!  Thank you to all the ATC craftster artists for all the inspiration and for being such a supportive and accepting group!  You are all awesome!!
