131  a menager-ami in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by La Chapa on: December 13, 2012 12:07:48 PM
I've been trying to catch my posting up with my crafting, so here are a few amis that I've made in the last year that never got their own thread.  Nothing too spectacular, which is why I waited to have a bunch to post, but nevertheless I like them and am proud of them.

this adorable mini pocket bug is only a few inches tall!

a pokeball.  My son was really into pokeman for a while.  Now my younger son uses it as an indoor ball.  He hasn't learned not to throw it at people when they aren't looking yet, so i'm glad it's soft!

this cute little turtle which i actually made a long time ago.  Love this pattern, but his head was a little heavy, so I would suggest weighting down his body with beans, beads or something so he doesn't faceplant.

this is actually a rattle that I made up, also for a swap.  I used one of those little plastic bubbles that you get from those crank vending machines with little toys in it & filled it with beads to make the rattle device!

this chili pepper (also for a swap).  I really enjoyed this pattern because it replicates the asymmetry of a real chile pepper.

I have a bunch more, but they are all fall/Halloween themed, so I think I will make a separate post for them. (Hopefully I actually get around to it!)

Well, thanks for looking!

132  Bookmarks in Crochet: Completed Projects by La Chapa on: December 13, 2012 09:31:21 AM
I was browsing through my pictures and found some items that I never got around to posting.  I want to try to catch up before the New Year, so I'm starting with these bookmarks.  I made these bookmarks for a swap earlier this year.   I really ended-up liking them and planned to make some for myself, but never got around to doing it.  (seems like I don't get around to a lot of things!)  Anyway, I seem to have a hard time revisiting projects.  I'm a love 'em and leave 'em type I guess, because I rarely work the same project/pattern twice.  Ah well, maybe one day I'll make a set for myself.

here's the patterns I used if you'd like to make a set for yourself:

133  ATCs, my first! in Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) by La Chapa on: December 06, 2012 12:02:11 PM

(just a little photo shuffle for the topic thumbnail Wink )

So, a few months back I joined the beginner inchies swap which although didn't quite hook me, did  in fact whet my appetite for tiny works of art.  Then, I decided to join the surprise Hallween ATC swap and that was that!  I'm now officially hooked and on to my third ongoing ATC swap.  (Most of these images can be seen in the various swap galleries.)

the inchies that started it all

for the surprise Halloween ATC swap I made these two series...

(the one @ the top) &

and these "people" (I ended up using one of these for the ongoing swap as I had an extra left over)

These are for the October ongoing swap...

(the moon flips over on this one)

there's a few missing as I forgot to take pics :/

and these are for the November ongoing swap...

the wings come up!

there are two more, but one hasn't been received yet, and the other may or may not have been received yet

As you can see, I have found a new love!  Thank you to all the ATC craftster artists for all the inspiration and for being such a supportive and accepting group!  You are all awesome!!

134  Re: OTT Winter Holiday Edition 1 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by La Chapa on: December 05, 2012 12:29:06 PM
Hey all! I'm starting off this gallery with the lovely hoop art that Onyxnox made for me...

As you can see, it's found a nice home by the tree.
I love the addition of the real pine cones!  I'm a total natural history buff & you really knocked it out of the park with this! Thank you so much Onyxnox!!!

Ahahaa, the smoking llama is great!

I received this ATC from dreadlady for my moths theme:

It is beautiful & elegant, and I love it!!
Dreadlady, I am really loving your definitions series.  I can imagine a bunch of these in a frame on my wall (hint, hint!) lol! okay, not so subtle hint!
Anyway, thank you!

Yay, so many awesome cards! Love 'em!  Especially that crazy gorilla & the birch trees!

AND, I have some amazing ATCs to add as well!

From SunnyDawn:

Love him so much! He kinda reminds me of my Dad!

and "Octo-lady"

AND from gozer:

Words can't even describe how much I love this card!  Fortunately it speaks for itself & I'm sure I don't even have to say anything!

and "The Kiss"

I think Medusa is going to be one of my long standing themes, because I am loving my Medusa cards so much!

Thank you so much ladies!  These really made my month! Smiley

Love the cat in the hat card!

I got this clever ATC from grapeicepop over the weekend for my Walking Dead theme!

That is a classic scene, and I love it!  Thanks grapeicepop!

Also, here is a cleared picture of the butterfly that I sent ThreadOrYarn (not that you can really see any additional details)

(so glad you liked it ThreadOfYarn!)

So glad you liked it grapeicepop!

seneris, I agree with the others, you're drawing is lovely!

AND, I received an awesome card from gozer today for my Victorian horror theme!!  I'm so stoked about it, and I am definitely putting that theme back on my list to see what else comes of it!

Love the bats, love the shadowy figure, love the girl!  Thanks so much gozer!

Mountains and Clouds, thanks for responding!  I had actually forgotten that I had even asked you that question. Smiley

Hey everyone, check out these awesome ATCs by leather and lace!  I'm so stoked because she made me TWO, and they are both gorgeous!!

What you can't see in this one is that the brown section is actually gold!  She also has gold shimmer over her skin which makes this my absolute favorite!  What is it about a little shimmer and gold that makes us ladies go gaga?  I'll probably never know, but thanks a million leather and lace! (for the extras too!) Wink

140  Jack o' lantern coin purse with instructions in Crochet: Completed Projects by La Chapa on: October 30, 2012 08:20:15 AM

I made this coin purse basically because I love Halloween and all things Pumpkin.
It is super simple.
Here are some very basic instructions, but if you prefer a traditional pattern you can find one on my blog (link toward the bottom)

The pattern is basically a rectangle 31 sc stitches across by 22 rows down.
I chose to make mine striped.

Fold your rectangle in half so your rows run vertically, & sew up the sides leaving the top open.

Attach green along the top and work two rows of single crochet in the round around the opening.  I decreased the second round at the seams, but it isn't critical.  Sew your zipper in place.

Next you design your face out of felt!  I used black, but you can use yellow if you want it to look like a lit up jack o' lantern.  Be creative and add some cute notions or buttons.  I added buttons on the eyes to give it a little life.

I love this little guy & I hope you love yours too!
There is a written pattern and addition tips and tricks on my blog, it's all free!
