11  Re: ART DOLLS 3 - GALLERY in The Swap Gallery by La Chapa on: April 15, 2014 10:43:36 PM
Thanks everyone! Ludi, glad you like him! I made him his own topic in case anyone wants to see more pics Wink  http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=432891.new#axzz2z1cBetH0

AND, I am now the official owner of a Ludi original!  I don't even know what to call this guy, but I think he's an ear of corn?  I have to quote my families reactions because I found them amusing:  My husband said "That's pretty tight."  I might add that he rarely comments on any of my crafty stuff.  My teen said "That looks like a corn. Is that a corn? That's a corn! I think that face is going to haunt my dreams!"  Lol!  And Ludi thought it wasn't creepy enough, pfft!  Anyway, I think he's beautiful, and he's perfect for my Spring table.  Thanks Ludi!

12  Frog art doll in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by La Chapa on: April 15, 2014 10:40:34 PM
Okay, so it's really just a glorified amigurumi, but I can dream can't I?  Haha!  I made this guy for Ludi in the art doll swap.  He has sculpey hands and feet, a cross-stitched rose on his back, and jointed arms and legs.  All new techniques for me.  Smiley

13  Re: ONGOING ATC SWAP - MARCH 2014 GALLERY in The Swap Gallery by La Chapa on: April 05, 2014 08:30:53 AM
I got this awesome elephant skull from ChameleonHound for my skulls theme.  She added the interesting tidbit of info that people had originally thought elephant skulls were cyclops skulls, mistaking the nasal passage for an eye socket!  It came in a very cool splatter painted card.  Did you make that ChameleonHound?

Thank you, I love it!

It's been a super busy month for me, and I haven't been too active in the gallery, but it's a great gallery so far!  There's quite a few that I really, really love!  Grin

I received this gorgeous, fabric and embroidery ATC from artsycandice:

Isn't she so talented?!! This piece is amazing!  I love it!  Thanks artsycandice!

So I got this adorably amazing package of monstery goodness from Cryssoleil yesterday, but before I could post pics, my computer caught a virus and imploded.  I failed at trying to upload pics from my phone, but fortunately hubby has a back up.  Anyway, here is the wonderful stuff I received

An adorable, mini zombie amigurumi

An adorable mini zombie cross stitch

And four adorable zombie ATCs!

You're an amazing artist Cryssoleil, and you did a great job stalking me! Thank you so, so, so much!  I love my little monsters!  Smiley

16  Bumbee in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by La Chapa on: March 13, 2014 09:15:07 PM
I've been posting a lot of older projects lately. (Playing the catch up game!)  Well, this one is actually a new amigurumi that I made in anticipation of Spring!  So this guy is a loose interpretation of a bumble bee.  He was actually inspired by a male Carpenter bee that I found in the Fall.  I had never seen a blond bee before, and it set me on a mission to find out what type of bee he was.  Anyway, I ended up making this fella, not a Carpenter bee, but still a bee nonetheless.

I got this card from kwality570 for my artist's choice theme.  She chose the letter G because my last name starts with G.  Now I'm thinking I made need an O from her to go with it so I can frame my initials...ahem, just saying.   Grin

Thanks kwality!  I really do love how the color worked out with the technique you used.  I tend to like muted Earthier tones.

18  The Creature from the Black Lagoon amigurumi in CHALLENGE 96 ENTRIES by La Chapa on: March 10, 2014 07:46:09 PM
I made this for our lovely kittykill in the Vintage Halloween Swap last year. http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=426691.0#axzz2gOCwqcJT  Her and I both love all the classic Universal Monster movies and well, amigurumi is ma thang, so this is the result!  He was a little fussy to make as I wanted him to be unmistakable.  I'm not sure if I succeeded, but I was pretty happy with the results.  No pattern, just whipped him up.  I was most proud of the fact that I was actually able to give him 'knees' and not just trunks for legs.  Now, I'm hitting myself on the head for not having taken notes as I can't for the life of me remember how I did it. Doh!

some details...

sorry, didn't realize this pic was blurry, but it's supposed to be a detail of his back fin

Thanks for looking!

Glad you like them Mostly Harmless!  I'd post thumbnails if I had them, but unfortunately those were part of a set that I sent off and forgot to take pictures of.  That budgie is one of my favorites too.  Smiley

Tons and tons of awesome ATCs!  I think I'm most impressed with the lichen.  Smiley

Here's another to add to the group from dontneedaclassroom:

An ant (and tiny fly) in amber for my cabinet of curiosities!

It's perfect!  I love bugs in amber.  I actually have a real spider in amber piece that I love.  Thanks dontneedaclassroom

20  Oogie Boogie! in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by La Chapa on: March 03, 2014 12:13:01 PM
I love The Nightmare Before Christmas with a passion, so I jumped at the opportunity to pattern test this Oogie Boogie pattern for http://www.ravelry.com/designers/slaughter-crochet.  Unfortunately I don't think she ever published the pattern, but it is a great pattern!  Hopefully she will get around to it.  I made this a little over a year ago.

Thanks for checking it out!
