1  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Happy Day Hoop on: September 29, 2014 12:07:43 PM
I've been working on a certain hoop and I finally finished it yesterday. It was inspired by something very specific, a song by two very special ladies. I designed the pattern myself using a vintage flower pattern provided by French Knots and three little words in my new favorite font.

The Inspiration
Barbra is a guest on The Judy Garland Show in the year 1963. They sung a "mash up" before "mash ups" were even a thing. (Thanks Glee.) This is probably one of the greatest and definitely my most favorite mash up that's out there. Barbra is singing her hit "Happy Days are Here Again" while Judy is singing her song "Get Happy". It is sung absolutely beautifully by both, it sends chills up my spine and a smile appears on my face every time I hear this. It's a shame we don't get music like this anymore.

The majority of the hoop was stitched using the Satin Stitch. I used to hate the satin stitch but after using it through out this whole hoop, it definitely became one of my favorites.

Happy Days are Here when you find a font that comes out great when you stitch it up!

Happy Crafting!
2  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / New Stitches Quotes and Flowers *Photo Heavy* on: September 28, 2014 11:11:56 AM
I've been stitching a lot lately so I thought I would share it with you guys.  Smiley

I bought this fabric not knowing what I would do with it. I stashed it away for a while, forgot I had it, found it again and then this happened.

Started stitching with sequins.

I love a good font. And yes, I use the dollhouse I built as a photo prop. Smiley

I also love a good close up shot. Wink

A simple quote deserves a simple stitch.

Well I hope you've enjoyed this peek into my stitching adventures.
Happy Crafting!
3  FIBER ARTS / Weaving: Discussion and Questions / Frame loom question??? on: May 28, 2014 06:22:38 PM
Hello! I just purchased a lap loom and I was wondering if a heddle reed would work with it. I thought maybe by elevating the loom a few inches it just might but I want another one's (more experienced) opinion. I wanted to see if there's would be another option besides string heddles. Any advice would be much appreciated. Smiley
4  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Sheet of Stitches - WIP on: October 07, 2013 10:17:56 AM
Hey everyone! I hardly ever post on here (and I know I need to do it more) but I would like to share my recent embroidery project. Don't know if this is considered a "finished project"....it's not that kind you kind finish in a day. I have started stitching different patterns that appeal to me on a large piece of fabric, roughly the size of a twin sheet.
Here's what I have so far...

I gathered up the other end of the sheet so I can sort of fit the stitched part in the picture. Once I have more designs stitched on, I'll pin it to the wall and take a better picture.
Here are some close ups of few designs I have stitched on recently.

This is most recent stitch. Pattern courtesy of Aunt Martha.

I am really loving this project and as I stitch more I'll try to update on here too.

5  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Boogies - My Adorable little Minions on: June 24, 2013 06:04:13 PM
I've been recently obsessed with the polymer clay lately and I've clayed up so many wonderful things. But if I have to choose which are my favorites, I do believe these little lovelies take the cake. I've played around with different horns and mouths but and I think they have finally evolved into something truly special. I'm calling them Boogies. Hope you enjoy!

See No Boogie - Hear no Boogie - Speak no Boogie

I'm sure there will be more to come!

6  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / Monster feltings on: January 22, 2013 09:06:37 PM
For those of you who don't know me, I love to hand embroider. Then recently I started learning the art of needle felting. One of my favorite embroidery sites is Urban Threads. I've embroidered a pile full of their patterns so I thought why not try and felt a few too. Here's what I've poked....

Monster in a box

Here I show my stitching and the felting together, comparing the two...

And here is what I literally just finished poking. Mr Nomster Smiley

I couldn't be any more pleased on how he came out. His chubby cheeks kill me every time.  Cheesy

Hope ya'll enjoyed!
