11  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / Re: 1st Time Felting on: August 24, 2004 08:20:27 AM
That's fun! I think I'd use the washing machine too, but I  suppose it's easier to control the shrinkage when doing just the one item by hand. Thanks for the pattern BTW!
12  CRAFTING FOR GOOD AND NOT EVIL / Crafty Charitable/Social Causes / Re: *Knitting, crocheting, sewing For charity!* on: August 22, 2004 10:12:48 AM
I'd like to help too! This is kinda like the 'scarf drive' they have for xmas on Glitter (don't know if it's going on anymore), and I think it's a fantastic idea and that everyone should consider contributing.
13  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Re: where do you awesome people get your inspiration? on: August 18, 2004 12:32:12 AM
kategirl, I've had featured projects but I still feel that everyone else are soo creative and imaginative!!  I feel like everything I do is really simple and quick and some people here spend days and months on an item of clothing, some fabulous embroidery or a crazy quilt!! It makes me feel like they're the 'proper' craftsters and I'm just skimming the surface...

Anyway, I enjoy crafting nevertheless and for inspiration I have Craftster! Smiley Seeing other people's good work also makes me raise my own standards and I've noticed I've become better at things since craftster time begun.

I also subscribe to Elle Decoration (UK version) and it's full of amazing design always. I love getting it and sitting down with a cup of tea and just be inspired!!

Sometimes, when I'm feeling uncreative, I grab my camera, get on my bike (I am in Amsterdam after all... Wink ) and cycle round the city observing people and places and shop windows and market stalls. If I see some nice detailing on a skirt, a handbag shape I like or a colour combination that works really well I take a picture!

It's a very personal and draining thing being creative and I think we all have periods where we feel a bit down about our creativeness. We are surrounded by very talented people here on Craftster so it can make it even worse but just think, there are people out there that wouldn't have a clue how to make a jordy bag!! Even WITH the tutorial!! Grin

I think this has got to be made for my upcoming trip to the US... Do you think it would be unwise to wear it through customs and immigration...? Grin
15  U.K. AND IRELAND / ENGLAND / Re: Stranded In London! on: August 17, 2004 12:13:20 AM
I know there's a BIG hobbyplace in Watford, can't remember it's name though... It might be Hobbycraft as above. I went there once when I lived in Berkhamsted, Herts and I was drooling with excitement but by that time my boyfriend had had enough of shopping and dragged me out of there... It's near the big shopping centre (Harlequin) together with lots of big furniture and DIY shops, shnould be easy to find if you ask someone. From Euston it's only a short train journey. Hmm, I really want to go there now...

I was to busy making some felt wallets for an order the next day so I missed the unrolling bit but she looked fabulous and it was all so lavish and lovely... but, she didn't sing live! Was I the only one who noticed? That bothered me a lot because she would easily pull it off, so why not??
17  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: craft punch cuff on: August 12, 2004 06:50:03 AM
oohh, like it! I tried using one of those on felt to make a cuff but it didn't really work and I got really upset! Now I need to go out and get myself some PVC! Thanks for sharing Kaffrin!

Sew them on with transparent thread. That's what I do. It doesn't take that long to secure it with a few stitches and it definetely won't fall off.
19  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Re: What's your Forte (or specialty)? on: August 10, 2004 12:17:05 AM
It's interesting how we all try every craft in the book with such enthusiasm and then move on to the next one.... one for the psychology students out there!  Cheesy
Yes, my house looks like the store room of a haberdashery, I have so much stuff it makes me feel uneasy sometimes...

My latest 'thing' is stringing beads on elastic for bracelets. It's so instant and beads are so beautiful but no doubt I will be over it very soon. (Now that I have my market stall I can try out different things under the excuse of 'checking out what sells', hihi!!) I crochet, suck at knitting, make collages/decoupage, paint decorative stuff, cut things and shapes out, embroider, weld, build things like TV cabinets, etc, but most of all I sew. No clothing, just 'things'.

It's impossible to explain crafts and what you do sometimes. People don't understand... Normally I just tell people:  I make things!! (then quickly change the subject)
