1  Re: Easy Beaded Hair Jewels in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by scandibird on: August 04, 2004 09:19:57 AM
I don't know what's happening to me!! second bead project in 2 days!!! I didn't think I even liked beading...

Thanks for sharing moobaa! Mine are not as professional as yours... I don't even have any proper pliers so they look all wonky. I got a huge grab bag of beads, a big bag of leaf sequins and actually had fun with beads! Smiley

Here they are.

2  What is your bestseller? in Tips for Participating in Craft Fairs by scandibird on: August 03, 2004 11:57:30 PM
I've done 2 market days now and I've noticed that what I thought was going to be a hit with the buyers wasn't and what I nearly didn't bring because I didn't like very much was the first to be snapped up...

Obviously it just goes to show that taste is like your bum...divided... but still, some things get popular with the masses.

What is it you sell the most of?

These are my top earners. Felt Purses! This is not a new project so this is not really for commenting on, just to show you what sells...I posted them here when I first joined and had kinda forgot about them but they sell really well!

...anyone else like to share their trade secrets...?  Wink

3  beaded gemstone dangly thing for round your neck! in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by scandibird on: August 03, 2004 01:24:37 PM
I saw this beaded dangly necklace in a shop for over 50 euros and I thought...ha! I can make that for 2 euros! and I did. Still, I have to give the person who made the original some credit, hers was beautiful.

It should have consisted of a lot more beaded strings and I really tried not getting bored but it was a bit too fiddly for me with the whole 'beads-not-fitting-over-the needle-eye-and-having-to-force-every-single-one-on-and-my-fingers-now-hurt!' thing.

I used normal DMC floss because that's what I had but the one in the shop had some kind of coated, dark, twine-like lovely thread. I got my gems in a little cheap grab bag at stone shop but her gemstones were bigger... All in all, my effort does not do this project justice but I thought I'd share the vision of opportunities with it anyway and throw it out there to you beaders!!  Wink

(For the record: my boobs are not that big and bulging! I think Mr. Wide-angle is playing a trick with us here...)

ooooh, I'm glad to be spreading some happiness... Wink belt sounds great as well!! I had a bunch of plain black hair elastics lying around so I located the textile glue and this is what happened:

(It took me about 20 tries with the digicam to get the flower in the pic... fun seeing the back of your own head for once though.. Smiley

6  ...more felt flowers! in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by scandibird on: July 16, 2004 02:51:08 AM
I was so inspired by the lovely felt flower pin that Hanabi sent me in the handbag swap, ( http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=8177.30 ) I got all my scrap felt out and went crazy.

I <3 them. They're so nice and summery, unlike the weather here... Sad Not sure what to do with them yet. They might become pins or I might attach them to hairbands or maybe even put them ALL on one handbag!  Cheesy

Don't think there's anything new under the sun here, but if anyone's got any questions just ask... enjoy!

Ok, so I gave in because I know how frustrated I get when I can't figure the instructions out.
Hope it helps!  Smiley And don't mind the crap explanation, just follow the pics...

1. Your 1st round of chains joined with a slip stitch

2. Put the hook through the ring, pull thread back up

3. Pull thread through the 2 loops you now have on your hook

4. done. 1 SC in ring!

Digression time: Love your avatar Mandypants, went to see some asian otters in a nature park a few days ago and this little otter's soft, pink and squidgy hand (no claws on them, just little 'cushions') held my finger... and I was in love!! The cutest little thing ever!!! Here's a pic we took...  I apologize (a little) for hijacking my own thread...  Roll Eyes
