Now would be a great time to pick one up...rotary cutters and mats are 50% off at JoAnn now through Sunday July 5th!   Wink
4  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Crunch Salad on: June 27, 2009 04:59:28 PM
This sounds really tasty and refreshing!  I'm definitely going to give it a try.  Have you ever used other flavors of ramen, or does it turn out weird?
5  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Cold Lunch Recipes? on: June 27, 2009 04:57:55 PM
A few of my cold lunch favorites:

hard boiled eggs
hummus with pita chips or wedges
pasta salad (I prefer vinaigrette dressings rather than mayo based ones.  they're also less likely to spoil in the heat)
veggies and dip
cottage cheese with fruit

Varying the types of bread you use to make sandwiches can be a nice change of pace, too.  Try using a bagel, pita, or tortilla instead of regular bread.  Good luck!
6  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Re: How often do you change the needle? on: June 27, 2009 08:48:38 AM
I change mine every few projects.  The things I sew are mostly on the small side though.  I save my used needles and use them to sew on paper or card stock for making cards, gift tags, etc.
7  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: The FABulous Gallery - Fill A Box Swap on: December 15, 2008 06:25:30 PM
Hey all!  I received a package from dragonslair on Friday.  I would have posted sooner, but a nasty stomach bug hit me on Friday afternoon.  Yuck!  Anyway, here we go!

mini pincushions, red rick rack (I use this a lot!), candy canes, cocoa (one packet is missing because I already drank it :-), pin wheel kit

plastic canvas dinosaurs (her boys thought I would like them, how cute!), polymer clay and molds, 3 sets of earrings, chunky red yarn

6 felt mini stockings

Black Apple mini doll (she also donated a second doll to the angel tree in my honor!), crochet coaster, crochet calorimetry.  That should keep the cold out!  It's funny about the doll, the one I made for her was with my own pattern, but I based the hair and features on the Black Apple doll. Coincidence!

extra large frog pincushion and matching needle book

I haven't decided if I want to give any of this as gifts, or if I want to be greedy and keep it all for myself Cheesy
Thanks, dragonslair!  I hope your finals go well.
8  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: The FABulous Gallery - Fill A Box Swap on: December 11, 2008 11:06:57 AM
I received my wonderful box from MizMosa yesterday!!

2 wonderfully decorated candle holders w/ birthday cake scented candles
Dolly w/ 3 dresses  WE ALL LOVE HER!!
Purple Scarf/Hood combo for Katherine  SHE LOVES IT!!
Scarf and Hat for Duncan HE LOVES THEM!!
Scarf and Hat for Deven (unfortunately Deven has a rather large head and did not fit these, but our good  friend has an adorable baby boy who is celebrating his first christmas this year and is now enjoying his very warm head, his mother thanks you)
scarf for me
baby blanket (can be seen behind Kate on chair)
sewn gift tags
white hot chocolate mix
Reform school girl journal (how did you know I collect this set of journals?)
skull & crossbones notepad
wrist pin cushion (been needing one of these)

I hope you enjoy yours.... sorry your extra fillers all turned out to be _________.

Yay!  I'm so glad you like everything.  The hat for Duncan was the first one I have ever knit in the round.  I'm glad to see it fits!  I was unsure about head sizes for kids, so I probably made the hat for Deven a little on the small side.  Glad to hear that someone can use it though.  Your kids are cuties Smiley

I'm having so much fun looking at everyone's loot!

All of the packages have been SO impressive!  That owl purse was esp. cute.  I'm surprised by how much we've all been able to cram into a flat rate shipping box  Cheesy

I just checked, and it looks like my package was delivered to dragonslair earlier today!  It got there super fast, I just sent it on Saturday.  I'm so excited to see whether or not she likes everything!

Hi all!  Just checking in again.  My progress has been slow but steady.  I probably won't be able to send until closer to the actual deadline.  I'm very impressed by the early senders!
