My first attempt at a costume.  This is totally one piece (4 pieces made into one) I made this for my 4 yo.  I enjoyed seeing the mouths drop at school when I told them I made it.  There was a total of 3 mermaids in her class of 15... I think she totally rocked!!

My first attempt at a costume.  My DD choose to be a mermaid.  I was a little scared at first to make this, but the pattern was easy and it turned out good.  I started the first week of October and was finished in 2 days.  I cut out on one and sewed on the other.  The thing I had the most problems with was the zipper.  It was 20 inches but when I installed it I could only unzip about 7".  It worked well and it IS just a costume...

I went to the thrift store yesterday after reading Cheytowns tutorial.  I found a really nice mens shirt for a dollar and brought it home to make the dress.  I started out with a seam ripper and then decided to get real and use scissors!     Anyway, after a couple of attempts at getting the sizes right, here's what I have.  I might be adding to the dress.

I made a cute outfit for my DD today.  I decided that I was tired of all of her outfits looking so huge on her that I would make it a size smaller since that was the measurements (sorta).  Anyway, I added an inch to the top and it was still TOO small!    I can't win with this sizing thing.  She has odd measurements as it is. I might make it again because I like the halter top.  Thanks for looking!

So I have been sewing for my DD for about 8 months now.  I like doing kids clothing because it's easier to fit and there isn't as much material to mess with. 

I bought this pattern for the skirt when I started sewing and was afraid to really start it.  I finally decided to make a mother's day outfit.  These aren't my colors normally but I have to think outside the box.  I made the blouse too! My first.  The pattern to the blouse was AWFUL!!  The instructions were very hard to understand.  Anyway, here it is in all it's glory....

I did a cute dress for my DD.  I found this material at the "good" store and HAD to have it.  It's very cute I think.  The original had only one ruffle and no sleeves.  I had to add another ruffle because Abby is tall.  I have been dying to do this anyway so I experimented.  I added the sleeves too.  So what do you think?

I finally made a twirl type skirt.  Again this was suppose to take only a few hours and it wound up taking 2 days.  I don't like doing gathering. I have a dress made the same way for me to make and I can't imagine having to do 3-4 times the amount of fabric gathering...ugh

Well I finally made a nightgown for Abby.  I can seem to find these in the store anywhere so I had an excuse to make one.  It's a bit big, but she will grow into it and I like big comfy nightgowns anyway...  Let me know what you think.  Thanks!!

I made a new outfit for my DD.  I've been working on it off and on this week.  I have to laugh when I read that these are easy to make and they always take the longest.  Oh well..  Here it is!

I made this cute apron for my 3yo.  I love it.  Let me know what you think!  Update:  I want everyone to know that this is 2 different colors.  This is a turquoise and Pink Apron.  The turquoise is the outside and the pink is the middle section.  It is a pattern.  I guess the picture makes it look like a small pink apron.
