3  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Namaste - yoga/meditation/positive living swap idea on: April 03, 2013 08:08:28 PM
Yoga has become a regular part of my life in the past few years, and I find myself trying to live a more positive and mindful life.

There are lots of yoga-related items that could be crafted/decorated, lots of themes for art pieces (mandala, zentangles, positive sayings, beautiful patterns), and a lot of positive energy to share in this community.

Would anyone be interested?

I've never run a swap, but would be willing to learn for this.

4  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Completed Projects / Fused glass platter and plates - blue and white stripe on: January 17, 2013 12:11:46 PM
In the fall I took a 1 day workshop on fused glass. I decided to use the day as an opportunity to make a Christmas gift for my mom. I made her a set of white and blue plates. The top photo doesn't show it very well, but they were re-fired over a mold to give them a curved shape. I really enjoyed the process. I think my experience with stained glass really helped me because I was already comfortable with cutting glass.

Wish I had a kiln so I could do more of these!

5  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Dishcloth with bobbles - first project on: January 17, 2013 11:52:43 AM
While it's not to most beautiful dishcloth on earth, I'm pretty proud that I managed to complete it without completley screwing up!
I think I lost some stitches partway through which would account for the wonky edge.

Now to work on my death-grip - it's giving me hand cramps!

6  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / The peacock on: May 09, 2012 05:04:39 AM
The inspiration for this project came from the materials I used.
I was flipping through a home furnishings catalog when I saw the pattern in the top right corner of this piece.
I was instantly drawn to it, and for some reason it made me think.

Starting with that piece, I began building an illustration of a peacock. I scoured my magazines and junkmail pile for various blues and greens for a few weeks until I was able to complete it. The finishing touch was to add a thick black outline using a sharpie.

7  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Do all things with love - a valentines card on: February 23, 2012 08:11:15 PM
I'm a junior member of my local calligraphy guild, and a few times a year we can participate in "Club Escargot" - a snail mail challenge where we create beautiful envelopes and cards to send to a few other club members.

This one fell right in line with Valentines day and I found a quote that I find very inspiring.

The card was written with red speedball ink in a Carolingian hand.
The  envelopes were folded from scrapbook paper.

8  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Mini-wallet for sanitary products. on: February 23, 2012 08:03:26 PM
I haven't done much sewing lately, but I was getting tired of my personal products popping out of the top of my purse all of the time.

I had this lovely black and white material leftover from an old project and I had some spare time, and this is the result!

Now I'll be less embarrassed if this ends up peeking out of my handbag!
