31  Re: October 2012 OPS D&G in The Swap Gallery by elyxandra on: November 12, 2012 05:34:34 AM
First up... an adorable sock snowperson and a new mini sketchbook with inspirational quote by C.S. Lewis from AuntieKar!

Now I have a new place to record my dreams and a new friend to keep me company this winter Smiley

Next...
A brand new set of Monogram notecards, each unique and made by hand from gala_apples!
I am a huge lettering/typography nerd so these will be perfect next time I need to send a note!

Thank you to both of you!

"It's here! It's here It's here!" Is what I shouted when I got home to find a big, puffy package sitting on the kitchen table.

whenindoubtsew sure outdid herself - I am absolutely spoiled!
Look at all of the goodies!

Not one but TWO bookbages - perfect because I carry around a LOT of books! (Finn's face is hilarious - I can't stop looking at it!)
An awesome Marceline tshirt that sats "You know I eat shades of red sometimes". (I am obsessed with lettering/typography so I love that she incorporated different lettering for all of the words)
A Marceline plush (we both <3 her so)
a pair of red earrings
A BMO pencil case (I think this might be my favourite out of everything)
A pair of red earrings
A hand sculpted Finn + wiggler pendant
And some bonus cadbury chocolates and a cherries patch!

Thank you thank you thank you!

33  Re: Hand-Carved Stamp Swap--Round 4 GALLERY! in The Swap Gallery by elyxandra on: July 12, 2012 04:51:29 PM
My final stamp arrived in the mail from sheeshakaye. A BEAUTIFUL fish - I love the balance of ink and the colour of the paper once it's been stamped. Thank you sheeshakaye!

I received my package from chibilightangel on Friday!

I was so excited that she sent me not just one, but TWO ampersands - my all time favourite typographic character Smiley
Sadly, I didn't notice until after that the ink bled a little on the paper I selected, but I'll be using these a lot Smiley

I also received a beautiful bar of hand-made soap - like Wulf I was baffled by the AMAZING smell coming from the envelope when I opened it.

Can anyone recommend a good brand of ink/inkpad to use? I think mine might not be that great.

Thank you chibilightangel - I'm going to put these on display in my typecase Smiley

36  The peacock in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by elyxandra on: May 09, 2012 05:04:39 AM
The inspiration for this project came from the materials I used.
I was flipping through a home furnishings catalog when I saw the pattern in the top right corner of this piece.
I was instantly drawn to it, and for some reason it made me think.

Starting with that piece, I began building an illustration of a peacock. I scoured my magazines and junkmail pile for various blues and greens for a few weeks until I was able to complete it. The finishing touch was to add a thick black outline using a sharpie.

37  Do all things with love - a valentines card in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by elyxandra on: February 23, 2012 08:11:15 PM
I'm a junior member of my local calligraphy guild, and a few times a year we can participate in "Club Escargot" - a snail mail challenge where we create beautiful envelopes and cards to send to a few other club members.

This one fell right in line with Valentines day and I found a quote that I find very inspiring.

The card was written with red speedball ink in a Carolingian hand.
The  envelopes were folded from scrapbook paper.

38  Mini-wallet for sanitary products. in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by elyxandra on: February 23, 2012 08:03:26 PM
I haven't done much sewing lately, but I was getting tired of my personal products popping out of the top of my purse all of the time.

I had this lovely black and white material leftover from an old project and I had some spare time, and this is the result!

Now I'll be less embarrassed if this ends up peeking out of my handbag!
