11  Re: Christmas Stocking Swap Round 9 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by elyxandra on: December 10, 2013 04:19:34 PM
I'm long overdue in posting these photos.

On Thursday I received a wonderful stocking from fluffypants. It's timing couldn't have been better - it seriously cheered me up after a painful breakup the night before.

So without further ado - the photos!

Photo collage one includes;

  • A 520C Pantone Stocking! As a fellow design nerd, fluffypants knew just what would make me laugh...
  • Yummy smelling bath fizzies and candle - I LOVE a luxurious bath
  • A tea wallet and a mug rug, complete with pocket for hot chocolate and a spoon Cheesy
  • A handy pouch filled with chocolates. I love the fabric and may use this as my makeup pouch as I can't locate my old one
  • Postits, botanical ATC background cards and PURPLE beads!

Photo collage number 2;

  • Cute little snowflake earrings, and funky scrabble tile E earrings!
  • A gorgeous, sparkly, snowflake resin pendant
  • A pantone necklace made on the back of a domino - how cool!
  • Nifty buttons - you can never have too many buttons!
  • Sweet handmade note cards - they're tiny and so cute. I love the cupcakes, and the one that says "hats off 2 you"
  • Cute things! The ornament lis very soft, the yellow kitty is a measuring tape, and I need to decide how to paint my new Trikky blank figure

Thank you so much Fluffypants! Through this swap I feel like I gained so much more than a few awesome gifts - but a new friend as well.

I'm SO glad everything arrived in one piece... Maybe customs thought I was sending an animal brain, even though i marked crafted items on the customs slip...
But it looks like they poured out some of the liquid maybe? It it should more than cover the brain... hmmm

The brain is just made out of polymer clay, and I tinted the glaze with red food colouring in some places to look like blood. The liquid just just clear elmer's glue, again with some red food colouring, so if you want to top up the jar you can probably add more glue. I bought it at walmart. The food colouring in the glue was initially like floating whisps of blood, but it all blured out into the liquid by the time i sent that package... but it still looks like a brain in a jar  Roll Eyes

I hope you enjoy the books - you said you liked horror so i think they'll both have aspects that appeal to you, although they're more action/fantasy in some ways than horror.

Here is a photo of the brain when it was a little more "fresh"

Look at the lovely package that beeker sent me! It came just as I got back from my mini-vacation, so what a nicce treat!
I can't wait to read Julie + Julia, and try some recipes (the second book is a cookbook, and there are more recipes in the wooden recipe box!)

You can't see it in the photos, but the recipe box has some great food-related quotes on the sides and top Smiley

The wood-burned cooking utensils are too pretty to use - I'm going to have to display them somewhere they won't get mistaken for a kitchen-tool.. and the bookmarks are hilarious! I'll be using them for this book for certain.

Thanks partner!

14  Re: Namaste - Yoga and Mindful Living Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by elyxandra on: July 08, 2013 05:38:33 AM
So I had my post showcasing all of the goodies I received from Abbeeroad prepared, when I got distracted, and my session timed out... sadly I lost all the typing and then was away for the weekend.
So here's another try...

First up, a hand-stitched mandala inspired pin. I need to put some effort into finding a nice bag for my yoga blocks so I can showcase this at the studio! I love the wooden button at the centre!

TWO bracelets! The sparkly stones are really pretty, but I LOVE the wrap bracelet! I had pinned one very similar, but the black ribbon is very much my style, and I love the OM charm and stamped disc.

A many coloured beaded necklace - there are so many different beads, that i always find something new every time I look. I am crazy about the lotus-pose wire bent person on the green pendant - love love love!

Last, but not least, a prayer flag featuring one of my favourite sayings.

Thank you to Abbeeroad, and EVERYONE who participated in this swap. It warmed my heart to hear about everyone's positive experiences, and made my first swap organizing experience very easy. Many have asked for a second round, and I anticipate that I will be running it closer to the fall.

Namaste

17  Re: Spell My Name Swap Round 10 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by elyxandra on: April 16, 2013 11:13:10 AM
I received from my partner Baloo yesterday - what a treasure trove of goodies!

E - Easter Egg, filled with my all time favourite, creme eggs! (They're all gone now)
L - Love Heart
Y - Yellow Butterflies
S - Seasoning Shakers
E - Elyse Bag - I love that it's personalized. Maybe I'll keep my notebook inside!

Because our names didn't match in length, she had to repeat 4 of the letters in my name...

E - Emerged Items - a bag filled with balloons and hidden treasures for jewellery making. This was a special treat to open - I'm looking forward to working with these!
L - Ladybird pins. They will go on my bulletin board by my desk for some cheer!
Y - Yummy Lollies - YES!!!!
S - Squirrel Penpot

Here is a look at some of the items that were hiding in the bag with the balloons

19  Re: Stuff an Easter Basket Swap 2-Gallery in The Swap Gallery by elyxandra on: March 22, 2013 08:44:48 AM
It's my turn to post!
Yesterday I got a special delivery from RaraAvis!

The box was HUGE! Check out the size of this basket!

First up: Candy! (Missing: mini eggs, one gold bunny and a milky way caramel rabbit - they didn't survive long before being gobbled up my me and my dad. I'm looking forward to trying that peanutbutter coconut candy stick. I've never seen them before! I'm saving the peanut butter egg for last Smiley

Second: The extra goodies. Stickers and stamp and chickies, oh my! I'm going to stick the duck pins and pompom chicks around for some spring decorating. I'll have to make some easter cards with that stamp too - so cute! Love the beautiful pen as well.

Best for last: the crafted goods.
A spring wreath, a felted rabbit and a beautifully decorated portable art kit! I'm a lucky duck!

Here's a bonus shot of the felted bunny because he makes me smile.

There was also a beautiful purple fabric lining the basket that I'll find a way to make into a craft.

Thank you easter bunny!

So many amazing crafts! I adore all of the Hitchhiker's stuff - one of my favourite books!
And the sewing-kit book is AMAZING!

Psyche and I decided to do a meetup-swap as we love so close to eachother.

Look what I got!!!

  • A READ hoop that is already on my bookshelf where I keep all of the books I haven't read yet.
  • A matching bookmark with a hand-stitched design
  • And not one, but TWO books! The Call of the Wild and Wuthering Heights!

Thank you Psyche!
