1  Fun barn dancin' cowgirl dress! in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by Brittjustbritt on: January 21, 2012 04:00:52 PM
I made this piece after a looong withdrawal from my sewing machine.

I found an old torn piece of fabric, that I believe used to be a skirt (it already had the tiering in it), at a closing theater house. I also used some remnant stretch fabric and a button up short sleeve shirt. I love the fullness of the shirt and how it twirls so nicely! I'm happy how it turned out except the seam near the armpit was really difficult and is tearing a bit. Since I didn't take the arms off and re-attached them. I just sewed the pink to it, hard to explain haha.

Action shot!

2  Maxi dress to two tiered short summer dress in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by Brittjustbritt on: January 21, 2012 02:51:42 PM
Made this recon last year

I had found this maxi summer dress at a second hand store. The material is pretty polyestery and thin so it isn't all to comfortable for me. Plus, the dress its self isn't too convenient.

So with this dress and an old button up blouse I created this summer party dress.

Added two tiers of the dress material and used the dress material for the straps too. The top of the dress fits a little weird but I think that might be because of the strap placement.

3  Black origami patterned shirt with ruffle. in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by Brittjustbritt on: January 20, 2012 06:25:08 PM
Hi, I'm new here and this is my first post! I've been looking (as a guest) for quite a few years. Figured I should share my creations. I made this top a few years ago.

The existing shirt (the black patterned piece) used to have a high neckline, long sleeves and no shape. I cut off the sleeves to make it short sleeved and then I used the legs of spandex leggings and added them to the arms. The new arms are now 3/4 length and give the top of the arm a bit of a poof. I also added in a square neckline.

I added a brown, satiny tie on the back to give the shirt some shape. The second layer of the ruffle and the tie are made from the lining of old pants. The first layer of the ruffle is some old faux lace I had lying around.

It's pretty comfortable and pretty cute!

(My first post! - I'm excited!! Cheesy -although it's unfortunate that I can't post photos yet)
