21  Halloween / Halloween Decor and Parties / Re: Halloween Makeover for a Collectible on: September 21, 2012 06:39:40 PM
this is awesome and a great idea. I will definitely look at collectable figures differently now.  Grin

Ditto.

A-Maz-Ing!

Very cool... It's super satisfying when you are something not quite mainstream and people actually get it.

Alcohol-based body ink....never heard of it. Was considering doing a black 'n' white pin up girl costume but couldn't figure out a good way to do the skin. Will make a note about that stuff, in case I do that costume some other time.....And that I need to buy lots of goof lotion for afterwards.
24  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: Gryffindor Inspired Bag on: August 19, 2012 10:41:51 AM
Congrats! Being able to make a classic bag like that is super handy. And lining it, much nicer, as well as more difficult, so kudos for that! I make these for gift things all the time. Bottle of wine, "Survival" or "emergency" kits (college, wedding, friendship, etc.) and lots of other stuff.
25  CLOTHING / Shoes: Completed Projects / Re: New Insoles for Old Shoes! on: July 09, 2012 06:08:34 PM
Thanks for sharing! I don't like sandals (ugly toe nails) so I wear a lot of ballet flats. And, like you, I find they tend to get grubby looking before I'm ready to retire them. So glad you came up with a way to revamp the inside, too. I know exactly which pair I'm going to do first...

I love it! So jealous...love looking at pictures of that event every year. Looks super fun!
27  CLOTHING / Costumes: Discussion and Questions / Re: How do I make this more steampunk? on: June 24, 2012 08:32:25 AM
check the jewelry making section of the craft stores. They often have old looking bits of chain, hooks and stuff.

I agree with the rough your stuff up a bit advice. Maybe drive over everything a couple times?

For sure a belt. Try the thrift stores on that one. Also on the jewelry. Shoot, and for a bag. I have found some great, worn and sort of old-ish looking bags over the years that are great for steampunk.

Tights or knee highs socks, cotton. Maybe make the skirt have a bunching, hiked up effect. Maybe a garter or with the knee high socks, carry a "knife" there, so it peaks out and would be easily accessible for all sorts of piratey hijinks.

Those are some great pieces you're working with, should turn out fun.
28  Washington / Washington: West / Re: Seattle Area Summer Meetup? on: June 10, 2012 10:55:47 AM
Hey girlies...can I come?
on
I was thinking the same thing...but I know June has been/will be so jam packed hectic for me I'm planning on keeping July very very unbusy. And I already have 3 parties/events I attend on the 21st... and that fills my busy quotient for July. Maybe another time...
29  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: GALLERY Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan on: June 03, 2012 08:00:48 PM
So I didn't participate in this swap but I wanted to comment that I am reading this series again because I saw this swap...I literally went and picked up the first 3 books the day after I noticed this swap while checking out the gallery for the one I was doing... So yeah, thank you for inspiring me to read these books again...

Also, everyone's stuff looks so great. What a fun swap.
