11  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Giant Doctor Who scarf...but not the one you're thinking! (VERY picture heavy) on: August 17, 2012 11:05:43 PM
Good lord, that is a lot of scarf! I love it, and bow down to it and your knitting abilities!

I ended up investing in Sublime Stitches hoop set.  I thought it was a good value!

How is the quality of those hoops? I'd be willing to buy that set if it is a higher quality than I can find around here, with really flimsy wood and often, very uncircular hoops. (apparently, uncircular isn't a word but you know, on the bigger hoops, they are more like uneven ovals when they are supposed to be circular.

She looks amazing! I know nothing about punchneedle, time to google! Also, your satin stitching looks impeccable, got anytips to share how you got her skin so smooth?

These hoops are all so awesome! Definately got some swap anxiety now! Of course, my favorite is the Doctor Who! I might have to start stalking Deathbeforedishes and steal it off her wall!

I have been to every craft/sewing store in my area looking for wooden hoops over the span of a month and have barely been able to find any. I hope they aren't getting rid of them or dialing back production, I don't like the plastic hoops, and I wouldn't want to display the majority of my pieces in one, I always like the make the frame match, and they only have so many plastic colors...
16  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: Finished IT Hoop on: August 13, 2012 12:48:08 AM
Thanks for all the love, guys! When I had the idea I was afraid it was just something silly that no one but me would get, so I'm glad I'm not the only weird one out there. Also, Evilkitten, your story about the mom dressing up as Pennywise is AMAZING. I can only aspire to be that awesome of a mother to chase my children and their friends around with a bloody knife someday.  Grin

I was inspired to make this hoopla from Stephen King's IT for my sister in law, after she found out that I love the story but have nightmares about the clown Pennywise. She works with children, so I thought she could hang it in her office for all the kids to enjoy Wink This was my first time using felt applique and while it looks a little rough I'm still pretty pleased with it! I stuffed the balloon with fiberfill to give it a bit more dimension. I mailed it off to her yesterday, I hope she likes it!

Just did a marathon stitching session after a rough day at work, boy do I feel better! Almost done with my hoop, now I'm just going to sit back and bite my nails and agonize whether it's awesome enough or if I should keep it for myself and think up awesome-er!

wow, mrsc thank you for passing along the words sciamachy and saudade.  Both are amazing and I had never heard of them!

Thanks! I was looking for the word petrichor and I found an awesome website with cool words in different languages. http://other-wordly.tumblr.com/

And, I am so excited to get working on my hoop for my partner!
