1  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Re: Question about embroidery floss scraps on: August 03, 2013 07:58:15 PM
Thanks for the input! Today I found this: http://www.joann.com/floss-a-way-econo-pack-with-3-ring/prd11985/ and I bought it and some metal rings and I think I'm going to label a bag for each color I have and then put my scraps in that. Its nice and compact so as to not be a pain when traveling, which I do a lot. =]
2  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Question about embroidery floss scraps on: August 02, 2013 10:09:53 PM
So I've been doing a TON of cross stitching lately and I've ended up with a size-able ball of leftover floss. When I need a color I will cut whatever length I need and then split it into thirds to use the two strands. Do people separate the floss and then cut it? Or if not, what do you do with the other 2/3 of the floss to keep it all separated and neat? I try to keep it so I can re-use it, but sometimes I'll forget what number it is and end up not being able to match it. What do you guys do to keep your scraps organized?
3  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / R2-D2 phone case! on: April 11, 2013 09:59:32 PM
Haven't posted in awhile!

So I found one of those cross stitch iPhone cases in the Joanns clearance section for 2.97! I brought it home and the first thing my bf said when he saw that it was blue was, "R2-D2!!" I was inspired by this pixel pattern: http://gadgetsin.com/uploads/2011/04/pixel_people_star_wars_cross_stitch_patterns_2.jpg

Anywho, here it is!

4  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Re: First Quilt! on: March 04, 2012 11:30:14 AM
=] thank you for the tips!
I've been using my ruler to draw straight lines where I want my stitches to go and it's been helping a ton.   Grin

6  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / First Quilt! on: February 21, 2012 12:49:07 PM
So I recently decided to start my first quilt. I found a tut I liked and am going from there.
Here's the tut: http://www.ludlowquiltandsew.co.uk/Jelly_Roll_Quilt.html
I decided to go with the Jelly Roll (or two in this case, couldn't find one bigger than 24 pieces) because I don't have any good fabric shops near me and I was intimidated by that much fabric  Grin
I'm going to find a thrift shop sheet to do for the backing and I have the batting from a large fabric collection I bought off CL.
I'm most likely going to do the embroidery floss ties since this is my first one  Smiley

Any suggestions or tips?

Wow! I don't think I've seen crocheted wire jewelry before. How long did each one take you?

LOVING this thread =]] Its so good to see people seeing tattoos as another form of art.

So my first tattoo, came about three months after I turned 18. I came up with the idea and my very artistically inclined boyfriend drew it up for me.
Here's the design drawing:

And here's the picture after I got it done, sorry for the crappy quality, cell phone pictures =/

The word is my last name in Gaelic and the big symbol means strength. The three little symbols came from my love of the saying Live, Laugh, Love; and they're all an integral of my strength.

My second tattoo was drawn and tattoo'd on me by a wonderful friend of mine. I've always had a fascination with dream catchers and this tattoo came after I had some trouble dealing with my parents' divorce. It really helped me realize that everything gets better eventually.

Here it is:

My latest creation! I actually made this as a valentines day present for my boyfriend to help with his back problems.

It was some fabric I had left over that I sewed into a simple pouch, filled with rice and then sewed the seam in the middle.
I tested it out last night and it works super well, very warm. If I make another one I'd love to test out adding some sort of aromatherapy oil to the rice to make it smell good.  Smiley

This is such an awesome homemade cover! I would love to make one for my sisters Ipad, but i'll have to find a book that would be a good size.
