151  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Re: Weld-a-pig! on: May 05, 2005 11:08:12 AM
The hinged robot with shelves idea is cool.  When I first saw the pig, I thought the back of the pig was hinged.  I would totally dig the idea of a pig or cow mailbox!  With wings for air mail.  hahaha
152  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / Re: Need opinion on my earrings! (lots of pics! Sorry!) on: May 05, 2005 08:45:15 AM
I think your earrings are really pretty!  I'd ask for at least $12 a pair.
153  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Re: mispronunciations! 'fess up! on: May 05, 2005 08:40:13 AM
I think "toile" is pronounced twoll.  Rhymes with doll, not troll.  What I remember from French class is that you'd drop the L if it were spelled toil, but if it has an E on the end then you pronounce the L.

I'm a newbie.  Go for the later date so I can join.  Smiley

Wow, thanks.  I used fusible interfacing on the applique and used a tight zigzag stitch 'cause that's what I read to do here, but I'm sure there's an easier way.  If I weren't trying to make it act like a pocket I think I would've used double sided interfacing.

Love it!

They look great!  I personally like "not perfect."  Flaws give people and crafts character.  : )

Since I had a deadline (Mother's Day), I finally have a finished project to post.  Smiley  Here's what I think of as the inside:

And here's the reverse:

I had the floral fabric for a while ($2/yd at WalMart!) and I was disproportionately tickled to find a matching blue at JoAnn's.  I thought the blue looked a little plain though, so I made my first applique ever.  It was a lot harder to do than I thought it was going to be.  (I think it would have been easier if I had a walking foot? or if I wasn't trying to make it act like a pocket.)  The pocket on the ouside is too shallow for much more than a pack of gum, but c'est la vie.  I made the straps extra long because my mom and I have long forearms and hate it when we can't easily slip handles over our shoulders!  It's not great, but I'm happy with it and it'll be perfect for my mom.  She always carries waaay too much stuff around in ugly old WalMart bags!
160  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Most disgusting food? on: May 03, 2005 01:43:00 PM
Foods I won't eat and will NEVER MAKE MY KIDS EAT: LIVER, KIDNEY ANYTHING, LIMA BEANS, HEAD CHEESE AND SWEETBREADS.  Think about what a liver and kidney are supposed to do: filter waste.  Ew!

And for all the Norwegians out there, lutefisk is digusting.  Fish boiled in lye?  Who thought of that?
