Asking help from Craftsters in Edmonton area! please please!
I am desperately trying to build my photography portfolio of wedding and engagement photos - if any of you crafters or your friends and family know of anyone who wouldnt mind helping out a beginning photographer (and fellow craft freak!)- and get FREE photos as a thank you, please pm me and I will send you my contact details.
I dont want to post my website etc on here and offend or violate any rules, but I was hoping some other crafty people might be able to help me out!
ok, so we have a last minute halloween party costume crisis.
need your creative ideas please...
my husband wants to go as ghost rider. I am painting a skull on his face, and colouring his head/hair in reds and yellows like flames. he has the perfect thin, sticky up hair to do it too. (and what an easy costume - black outfit with a chain slung over your shoulder).
any how, I want a costume that SORT of goes with it, but something recognizable as something for when I am on my own. in the movie the girl he is with is a news reporter, well, I wear business outfits daily, so its not much different for me.
but, I still have my wedding dress.. a long white sheeth I am very willing to turn into something .even if it means cutting or ripping at it.......ghostly vampire or something? undead? also a black glittery dress. a devil woman? fangs and lots of eyeliner? any one have any ideas?
orginionally we were going to go in our wedding clothes (his a suit) and put on fangs and cover ourselves in fake blood and go as "wed and dead", but he likes his ghost rider idea better. dont blame him. but now I'm stuck.
if you have a smaller child (under 7ish) just about any animal costume can be made out of a mens size large hoodie.
for example, I bougth a mens large black hoodie, drew the hood drawstring tight on it and glued on a yellow triangle beek (on kids forhead area of the hoodie hood, to the top. then I glued on a white felt square on the stomach, added a red bow tie on the neck and yellow rubber boots - tada - my daughter became a penguin!
you can find mens hoodies at walmart fairly cheap too, and they fit over snow suits.
I got this neat idea that for halloween, i want to decorate my front steps with hands apearing to climb up the sides of the railing. (think adams family) I can easily cast them out of plaster, but can anyone think of anything more weather resistant to cast them in?
I have my 100% silk tricotine wedding dress, (very plain style) I bought with the plan to cut short and dye so I could rewear it. I thought I could get it dyed at a local cleaners, but apparently I have to ship it out half way across the country at a larger cost than I actually paid for the dress.
so, I think that I want to attempt something funky in redying it myself. I heard black is hard to achieve, so I was thinking a blue, or a red, or dark brown.
so my questions:
1- when I was a kid I used to dye my jeans with rit dye. but I hear there are tons of options at places like Michaels now. any recomendations on a brand?
2- I need some funky ideas, and you guys seem the place to ask, whereas everyone else just freaks out that I am dying a wedding dress. (hellof a lot better alternative to it wasting away in my closet I think). any cool techniques other than tie dye?
3- I was thinking maybe painting something on it like a pattern with wax -how to do you get the wax off after?
4- is there something you have to use to set the colour in so it wont wash out?
any ideas would be so helpful! I would rather screw it up myself with a blotchy dye job, than let it waste away in my closet. if it comes down to that, I'll paint the whole dam thing with a cityscape or something...........hmmm, thats an idea!
I need ideas in planning a shrek birthday party in my back yard for my daughter who is turning 6.
My ideas so far: -hanging signs to our back yard that say "land of far far away" -cut out large pictures of Donkey, for pin the tail on the donkey games -she wants a fairy tale castle cake, which I'll probably stick little shrek dolls on -cut out shrek character faces for kids to wear
I cant find the previous thread like this, but, I was looking for ideas of useful things to make out of my moms wedding dress. she is not a 'keepsake' person. I was origionally trying to renovate it to wear myself, but the fabric isnt holding up and is falling apart. instead, I want to make some sort of heirloom that is useful.
