1  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Fix or buy a new one?? on: June 26, 2012 03:18:02 PM
So, I've had my Brother SQ9000 for about two years now. I don't sew every day but often enough that I won't share a machine. Right now there's a few projects I want to finish and I need one! I've been having problems with it. Sad First my bobbin case messed up and a spring for the presser foot came off, but I managed to fix both of those. Now something is messed up with the alignment (the needle tends to move forward and hit the plate). My aunt who is well-good at sewing machines doesn't know what it could be. At the local fix-it shop it'll cost around $90, which is half of what I paid for it!

What I really want to know is if this machine is worth fixing, or will I just end up with more problems? If it's now worth it, then what's a decent machine to buy?  Huh
2  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Re: What to do with this fabric? (add yours!) on: January 23, 2012 03:57:30 PM
At the local thrift-store I found the most gorgeous piece of jewel-tone magenta sweater type of fabric! It's made as a perfectly seamless tube, so weird. Probably about a yard in height and length (flattened, still tubed). I definitely love, but have no idea what I can do with it. I've only got rough sewing skills. Sad Any ideas what I can do with it?
