3  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Embroidery foot on: January 26, 2012 10:30:07 AM
I am purplexed. I bought a foot for my sewing machine to do freemotion embroidery, but it the foot part doesn't meet flush with the metal base plate. The back edge of the "hoop" meets the plate and the edge nearest me is at a 45 degree angle to the plate. Is that normal?

I have a singer 500a rocketeer. It is a slant needle and I bought a slant needle foot.

Any ideas? Is that how they are supposed to fit?

Please and thank you guys.

5  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Re: Janome Bobbin size? on: January 17, 2012 09:47:17 PM
Sorry it took so long to reply. Craftster and my phone do not mix...

Janomes usually take size L...

If you click on size L it will tell you the dimentions compared to a class 15.

I am sorry but that was all the info I could find. Sad

What make and model of sewing machine do you have?

Most home sewing machines use a L or a class 15... But their are oddball machines out there.
7  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Re: Need Help - Machine not stitching correctly? on: January 17, 2012 07:35:28 PM
What kind of machine do you have?

How old is it? Has it even been oiled or serviced?

Have you sewn with that bobbin before?

Are you using cheep thread on top?

9  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Sewing machine repair, as a career on: January 17, 2012 12:57:46 PM
Hey guys,

I am considering going into sewing machine repair as a career. My question is, how many of you repair your own machines and how many take them to a repair shop?

I am in Kansas City and having a hard time even finding a place to learn to service machines. There are expensive online courses, but no real schools. Anyone have any resources?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
