Thanks Smiley I've always loved mini versions of things and this one is much more manageable. The setting up and putting away of the old one was always such a hassle for me.

3  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / I Made An Ironing Board Cover on: March 11, 2013 03:26:25 PM
I've been using my mom's ironing board for some time now and I've finally gotten fed up with how old and gross it is. It has serious stains from who-knows-what, and it will randomly collapse while I'm using it Sad

I was given a fancy new iron for Christmas so I decided to use that as inspiration. I bought a new ironing board, but instead of a full size one I found a cute little 'apartment' ironing board. It's perfect for me because I mainly sew small projects.

They match <3 I'm so happy with how it turned out. It makes a huge difference to my attitude while ironing haha.

For more info and pics, read my blog post. Thanks for looking!

5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Another Variation of Napkitten's Accordion Wallet on: December 16, 2012 10:30:37 PM
My friend was looking for a wallet that was good for grabbing when she just needed to run out for a few minutes and didn't want to bring her whole purse. She had a small wristlet type thing but if she put more than a couple things inside it then it wouldn't stay shut.

I drafted a pattern to try and suit her needs, based on the accordion wallet pattern by Napkitten. This wallet is the prototype of the new design.

It is 6" wide instead of 8" and has 5 divided sections and 1 zipper pocket on the inside. It can easily hold most smart phones, and the divided sections make it easy to keep things organized.

There are 8 card slots on the back of the wallet instead of on the inside.

Comments and criticisms welcome. For more pictures and information check out my blog.

Thanks!

I've since made another wallet with a bunch of different changes.

It has a bunch of extra card slots on the flap, an extra divider, a windowed ID slot, a pocket on the back, and it closes with 2 snaps.

I made a blog post about it with a bunch more pictures here.

I found this idea somewhere on the internet and thought I'd give it a try. I used it as a personalized gift for my Dad because he is super hard to buy presents for. Each coaster has an image of a map zoomed in on a location that has some meaning to him: the house he grew up in, the family business, his favorite road trip destination, etc. I think he liked it, and told me I should make a set for my Grandpa using places that meant something to him from when he was overseas. It wasn't too difficult to make with a little help from maps.google.com Let me know what you think!

How do you get more out of a pattern that you might be getting bored of? Alter it!

I have used the pattern for this wallet a bunch of times and changing the size really helped it to feel new again. It was much quicker to make this small one compared to the original, and also much cheaper since it only used a fraction of the fabrics.

It's roughly 4" wide by 3 3/4" tall, and I think it turned out adorable. Let me know what you think!
