3  Lemon Candy Dott in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by Pleasantly Malformed on: January 29, 2013 09:16:00 AM
This is really just a muslin as I try to finagle a high-waisted skirt from a wiggle dress retro pattern, but I liked how it turned out!

More info at my blog (I hope I link it proper this time, lol)

4  New Vintage Oxymoron (Big Moron) in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by Pleasantly Malformed on: January 13, 2013 03:10:31 PM

This is my newest endevor, because I rock the red lips and look good in natural waisted things. Its a 1942 pattern, and is SUPER easy. Like, it took me maybe three hours? And thats with a toddler.

Go me!

7  Regency Nieces in Costumes: Completed Projects by Pleasantly Malformed on: August 05, 2012 01:40:58 PM

A regency era inspired dress for my niece, who is staying over the summer. No pattern, I studied a variety of historical regency gowns from the early 1800's and 'winged' it. I will probably post all the production photos in a little while, just wanted to put this up. Its a pale salmony lace with a breezy fabric as the overskirt, edged in ribbon. Sleeves need finishing and Im going to add a wider ribbon about the waist. Pretty good for a first try.

Oh, also, it was all hand sewn. Here are side and back pictures. Smiley

8  The Plaid That Makes Eyes Bleed... Retro-Style in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by Pleasantly Malformed on: April 30, 2012 10:13:42 AM
Okay, here it is:

And also my ever cheerful sister modeling the gown:

So, as for a story, here it goes. A little while back, read.. let's see... a year? Maybe? Anyway the wonderful craigslist found us some fabric being sold by a lady who inherited it from her recently deceased mother. 'We' being my mother and I, of course. Anyway she left the fabric with me, and finally now I've been using these fabrics as 'practice'. Im making a selection of retro dresses to beef up on my sewing skills. Here is my second dress, after the Batman curtain one. Smiley

I used this pattern, ULTRA easy, and super fun. Heres some more pic-spam. Smiley

9  Pulling A Scarlett O'Hara in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by Pleasantly Malformed on: April 23, 2012 10:10:32 AM
Round Two!  EDIT! I made another curtain dress: Found at the bottom of this post!

So I love Batman. I have Batman boxers, T-shirts, sweaters, and wallets. I go gaga for anything with the (original) Dark Knight. Who doesn't? A hot hero in black leather? OMG.

Anyway, while wrist deep in the fabric bin at goodwill I sighted some awesome fabric.

I got geeked for a moment, then let it go. One single panel of curtain would make practically nothing for a chicka of my size. Then, low and behold! ANOTHER CURTAIN! OMG!!!! I danced about like a madman, er, woman, and bought them.

I am currently into retro outfits, pearls, crinoline, the whole nine yards. There is a pattern that I have wanted to use since I saw it floating about here on Craftster. This one:

This pattern is so EASY! It was a dream to make, I was so very happy with it. Anyway, Here is the final design! I will post more pictures when I take the professional photo shoot. Smiley SO Whatcha think??

10  My Luve's like a red, red ribbon, flowing to the moon.... in Clothing: Discussion and Questions by Pleasantly Malformed on: April 23, 2012 06:51:13 AM
hello All!  Grin

I work at a hotel part time and recently someone left some decorations after a wedding. This:

There are about nine strips of ribbon, not as pink as shown more crimson color. They are four yards long and some change, and about three inches wide. I am using some as accents for a reconstruction I'm doing involving turning a gold prom dress into a belly dancing costume, but that still leaves me with SO MUCH EXTRA! Does anyone know what else I can do with them??
