1  Re: Ongoing Wish Swap Round 34 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Happychick on: June 02, 2008 12:03:21 PM
I received a wonderful package from Klum78 today, a bag, pin and necklace. I was having a pretty crappy day, and it was just the nicest surprise I could imagine!

Lovely bigsquishy bag, with my new favourite pin

And necklace

Thank you so much!

2  Prom dress dry run 2.0 in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by Happychick on: May 16, 2008 08:04:48 AM
Because I'm really paranoid about cutting into my 12/m ($24/m) fabric without checking my (self drafted) pattern works! I grossly overestimated how much bias-binding I'd need to make, and have about 10 meters of the damned stuff left over, so at least I'll know not to repeat that mistake...

The sweetheart neckline isn't really wonky, but my dress form Vicky and I are having some issues. I suspect I have a case of the terrible twos on my hands...

3  Re: Shop the Swap 14 - Shop Posts Only in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by Happychick on: May 02, 2008 07:12:39 AM

My house is pet & smoke free!

2 pt items:

Approx. 520m/568yds white cashcotton, divided into two whole balls of 130m/142yds each, and four smaller balls. Not an expert on dying, but I'd imagine it'd be good for that kind of thing...

35% Cotton, 25% polyamide, 18% angora, 13% viscose, 9% cashmere (2pts)

Green felted-bead bracelet (2pts)

1pt items:

Purple and red glass bead bracelet. Fits my 6.5'' wrist well, with a little room (1pts)

Birdie embroidery. I can make it into something small, (pouch or cuff maybe?) or you can have it as is as a patch. For more points (negotiable!) i could make it a feature on a bag or something. About 3'' end to end (1pt)

Custom-made shop banner or forum avatar, anything goes as long as I can find images for it! (1pt)

1/2 pt items

Earrings! All 1/2 pt per pair, remember to specify which in your claim PM

Lot of crochet flowers, circles and one granny-square. These were my practise, so they may not be perfect... (1/2 pt the lot)

Felt patches. Robot only avaliable(1/2 pt each)

Grey cabled neckwarmer, knitted from a 30% wool, 70% acrylic blend. It has no buttons for the time being, so I can add them according to taste

5  Re: Promalong - Making your own Prom dress? Join the club! in Clothing Sewalongs by Happychick on: March 07, 2008 08:51:50 AM
Heavily inspired by a previous poster (no prizes for guessing who!) I started on a lacy dress. It's definately inspired by rather than copying from, as I've used the lace quite sculptedly (haha, I invented a word too Tongue), but thanks for the inspiration skarinja!

Anyway, my right boobie is done, all handsewn. I'm just hoping it fits me as well as it does the dress-form!

6  My love is like a red poppy in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by Happychick on: March 04, 2008 02:46:40 PM
Poppies are my absolute favourite flowers, but the only poppy related item I own is a necklace that my great-grandmother passed down to me, which is what sparked my poppy-love in the first place. I decided that this situation needed immediate rectification, so, a poppy hair-clip! It's crushed velvet, burnt round the edges. Super easy to do, and it looks lovely.

8  Re: Vintage 'dos and make-up (Come share your secrets!) in Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions by Happychick on: March 03, 2008 07:19:50 PM
I followed some of the links in here, and had a go at pin-curls tonight - wow! My hair has always gone limp in minutes using a curling iron, but these seem much more sturdy. Do you have any advice for sleeping on curls? Would a turban type thing reduce how much they got squished?

('scuse the frumpy 'jamas and funny face!)

9  Only very slightly steampunk cape in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by Happychick on: February 19, 2008 04:09:37 PM
I spent this afternoon drooling over items of steampunk-inspired fashion, and naturally desperate to make something for myself. However, having been a fan of the style for about six hours, I didn't really have anything to make it with to hand. So I present the only-very-slightly-steampunk cape! I was considering adding an appliqu - gears maybe? But it drapes so beautifully, and I didn't want to spoil that... and I do like it as it is, although I can't picture any situation in which I'd wear it!

10  Re: Shop the Swap Rd 11 - discussion in New Swap Theme Ideas by Happychick on: February 10, 2008 02:41:58 PM
I'm making one of those huge twirly patchwork skirts that there have been a few posts about recently, so I thought I'd show dropdeadsuzie that I'm using her fabrics already! The big skull and the clothes on the washing line  are both scraps I bought from her, although they're interfaced so that they aren't stretchy...
