I like them!
I used to have a Powershot.  On your settings wheel do you see a little tulip?  That is the macro setting.  It is specifically for taking close-up pics of small objects.  You can also Google homemade lightbox and make your own lightbox.  I made one from a box from a case of diapers and tissue paper.

They are very cute and should go over well at an anime convention.

I have not used the melting pot, but I was getting the yellowish cast using a heat gun.  I guessed that it was from over-heating so now I work in layers and make sure each layers cools before putting on another.  I also use clear embossing ink to hold the UTEE on so it doesn't just blow everywhere.
I was holding the gun high above the piece and slowly lowering it as the UTEE melted, and quickly adding more UTEE to fill in any gaps.  I noticed the pieces that I used this method on all had the yellow cast, but now that I use the ink and can melt the UTTE much more quickly, I haven't had this problem.

These are gorgeous.

They remind me of stained glass or cloisonne.

Good work.

Heat gun, but the melting pot looks cool if you wanted to pour it into a mold or something.
