1  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Gears & girl Watercolor on paper. on: October 14, 2012 08:50:29 AM
Ok so I've been in steampunk mode lately. My daughter who is 4 has been making me listen to Steam Powered Giraffe constantly since she has this huge crush on a guy in the band called the Spine (If you look it up he's the silver dude in the fedora!) Really not that I mind listening to them because they are awesome I just wish I wouldnt have a song of theirs stuck in my head at a constant like literally all times it seems! Their songs have been running through my head for a week straight and really I always had them get stuck in there but now my daughter is on this insane kick! I wake up throughout the night even and I have one in there! This morning when i woke up it was Automatonic Electronic Harmonics and last night when going to bed it was Honeybee. So my daughter decided she's going to be a robot of that style for halloween so i've been trying to tune my gears that way..... ANYWAY - I've been wanting to paint and I love to doodle so i drew this up and then painted it.. The first one that is more vivid but kinda blurry is with flash the other without to try to show the metallics better...  I need to break out my camera and get better ones so please excuse the quality as I took them with my phone!

This is a watercolor painting on paper. I did it with some Metallic Watercolors as well.. I'm a huge fan of metallics. I'm not so happy with the hat or the shading in some areas but if I keep messing with it I will ruin the paper.. >.> I like it well enough for now though ask me again once I've had the chance to look at it more haha. C&C always welcome and appreciated! Thanks for looking!

3  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / monkey girl painted plaque and bow wall hanging & matching crochet monkey on: September 15, 2012 05:11:42 PM
Ok since this is a double item I figured this the best place to share... One is a decorative wall hanging I freehand painted a monkey and braided bead ribbon and other ribbon to make a hanger then I made a matching bow all in the colors she is decorating in. So  the other one is a crochet doll to match. All of it to match my friends store bought covers. So I  made these for her baby shower present! C&C most welcome Smiley

5  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Adventure Time and fashion monkey and zebra jewelry (pic fat) on: August 30, 2012 05:13:07 PM
So I've been playing around with polymer clay (I figured it fit in this group more as its all jewelry) and I made a few adventure time themed things... First my favorite:
Lady Rainicorn and Jake the Dog Love necklace:

Lemongrab man he is a crazy dude I love him:

Peppermint Butler:

Lumpy Space Princess:

Nosferatu: he has some issues but I just thought it would be funny

Fashion monkeys:

Fashion Zebras:

It shows the progression of trying to hammer out my design the one next to the nickel is the size I will go with ^__^

The Zebras are something I made that are close to my heart. The Ehlers Danlos Syndrome ribbon is Zebra and we call ourselves zebras because often we are misdiagnosed many times before we meet our EDS diagnosis. We call ourselves Zebras and we are a herd of caring people who try to get word out for this under diagnosed and often unheard of genetic disorder. There is a saying for doctors in medical school " If you hear hoof beats think horse not Zebra" basically that you check what is most common before you jump to conclusions.... So many doctors never check but Zebras do exist and more than was previously thought!   So I decided to use my crafting to support an organization called CEDSA it helps raise awareness and helps support people with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. I will be making some of these to send to girls who are going through a rough time with their EDS and need some cheering up. I plan on making something for boys as well because I cant leave them out. Most that are effected by EDS (or rather the ones that get diagnosed really) are women but its believed that many men are misdiagnosed or go without getting a diagnosis. I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and it has been a lifelong battle of chronic pain and health problems. Crafting has become my great support system for dealing with the pain. I can focus on something productive and it takes focus away from the pain I have. I am very happy to be able to do this and use it to help the cause. I will be making all sorts of zebra things to donate the proceeds to CEDSA and that really makes me feel good that I can do something to make a little difference even if it helps just one person that's enough for me.

thanks for looking guys! C&C welcome and appreciated! Cheesy
6  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Penguin power! Blanket and Amigurumi! on: July 31, 2012 02:31:24 PM
Made this for a couple who are about to be new parents! Cheesy I made the penguin first then the blanket to match! The penguin measures 8" and his arms move! The blanket measures 36" x 40.5" Its my first blanket I've done and it was TONS of work! I'm pretty proud of how they turned out excuse my crappy photos though! LOL Cell phone pics since my camera screen is broken its hard to take pics... But I couldn't resist sharing since I put tons of work into it! I will probably take the scraps to make a hair clip to match for them too!

10  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Rainbow Brite ruffled skirt on: April 10, 2012 10:43:15 AM
So for Easter I always make my daughter something This year I decided to make my first skirt. I had been saving up a rainbow brite sheet for a skirt for her for some time but was always too scared to try.. (suck at the sewing..) It took me far too long to make it because I have no real room for cutting and measuring i have to move it over and recheck and recheck the measurements... Then sewing was a rough start with sewing the ruffles on and seeing i didnt get the thread covered from the ruffle so seam ripping and resewing and then not getting it straight and seam rip and resew again LOL It was hard work but worth it since my daughter will not take it off! It wasnt too horrible looking when it was done I'm pretty proud of myself for not giving up though I REALLY REALLY wanted to! It was a lot of pain mentally and physically because of how my chair/desk is set up its not at the right level so my shoulder and back were killing me by the time I was finished LOL I will have to go ahead and replace the elastic though because it wont snap back into shape being so wide... It keeps fallin off her little hiney! lol
Here is my daughter Ellie (chocolate stains and all) doing her Easter egg hunt in the skirt! sorry for crappy picture I will try to get a better one later... This was taken in mostly shade and it was windy and cold so we didnt stay out long! The second pic her eye is all red because her hair kept hitting her in the eye and she kept rubbing it. You can really see what I mean about the elastic though right?! She would bend over to get an egg and it would look like she had 2 boiled eggs hanging above the top of her skirt where her panties would be taken down by the skirt and she was mooning us! Yea that will be fixed once I can get her to take it off and find the skinnier elastic! She loves it and that is what makes ALLLL the pain and annoyance worth it!

All and all its not too bad for my first attempt at a skirt Cheesy Here is the tutorial I used to make it! Cheesy
