1  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Tips for Participating in Craft Fairs / square up ?? on: December 27, 2011 06:49:59 PM
If you are using square up on a i phone do you need a cell plan for it to work? or can you just use an unlocked phone and free WiFi?

I'm trying to figure out what I need to get to make the square up work and whats best for our business.
I don't need a smart phone and really don't want to pay more each month for one just to use it for the square up app and right now a whole new tablet computer isn't in our crafting budget.

I love the way that our display works the vertical "wall" can be seen from across the market and really drew people in to see what it was. We sold a lot more when we had it hanging than we did when it was all on the table.

I agree that your prices are low so if you are not selling you must not be in the right place or its how you are presenting your product.

It really helped me to think about who I was selling my product for, and who was buying it and why.
Doing this really helped me to realize that my biggest market at fairs is as gifts. The majority of people who are buying from me are giving it to someone else realizing that really helped to make sure I was presenting my product in a way that was appealing to that audience.

The other thing is make sure that your display looks amazing both up close and from far away. I was doing OK with sales and after I redid the lay out and made it more vertical rather than flat on a table our sales doubled.
