11  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Make me an apron (SU Closed; SO 04/24) on: April 10, 2012 03:12:39 PM
Going to a little fabric store down the street from my house tomorrow before I go in to work.  Still trying to decide whether or not to buy new or use from my stash.

Alex I'm so glad you like it!!! Gosh I was so nervous all the glitter would come off in the mail!! I was going for the "ombre" look that's real popular right now Smiley
13  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / "Peace With Child" on: April 06, 2012 11:31:24 AM
Hey Y'all,
This is the first painting I have done in a while, and I created it for my yoga teacher who is about 5 months pregnant.  Check out my blog for a better story Smiley

Done with acryllic paint on 11x14 canvas.

*inspired from a link less nameless picture on pinterest that I'd love to give credit to if you can tell me where the image is originally from*

I received from my partner!!  I'm pretty sure that after what she sent me and what other people are posting, that I'm going to fit in to the "glue spaghetti noodles in a kind of artistic manner" category!!!!

Without further ado, here is what she sent!!

The amazing front! So creative how she made the A out of little a's!!!  And see that little z down at the bottom?  Well, it leads in to.....

See the Z made out of z's??  How neato!!!

Thank you so much, I LOVE it!!!

I also figured out who my partner is Smiley **secretly waves to partner**

And I received!!! I love my piece! I will post pictures after I get off work today.

I finished thi morning in the wee hours and then I woke up and looked at it. You know that scary feeling you get before you swap that makes you feel like whatever you are going to send will be completely inadequate compared to your partner?? Yeah that's where I am now.
20  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Fabulous felted bag on: March 22, 2012 01:43:28 PM
No real videos that I watched.  I have a great little yarn shop that I go to and they gave me suggestions.  My first attempt ended sadly, I felted the middle of the bag together!!  My blog tells more about that sad story.

Here is what I ended up doing:
I have a front load washer.
I put in three towels with the bag.
I used the Express wash setting.
Hot/cold setting.
Low spin cycle.
High soil setting.

I did it four times I think.

One thing I like about the express wash setting is that they only last for 20-ish minutes.  That way you can keep checking on the bag to see how well it is felting and if you need to keep going or not.
