I posted pictures of my first queen size rag quilt on the Craftster forums because I was proud of it and loved the bejesus out of it. (Here it is: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=403040.0) But I wan't the only one...
Early in February, my mother decided to "borrow" my favorite quilt (aka take it and not give it back cause she likes it and she wants it so I guess I'm screwed out of a quilt). I loved that quilt so much, that I was willing to spend money I really didn't want to spend to make a rag quilt for my mother so I could get mine back.
So I did. And spent twice as much on my mothers quilt than on my own. But I got mine back and that is whats important in this story.
But I also decided to experiment with her quilt a little. I used old cheap blankets as the batting (I used flannel as batting on mine), doubled the ragging "seam allowance" (from .5 inch to 1 inch), and changed thread tension (from regular to tight). And although I liked the turnout, I still love mine WAY more.
I call her quilt the "Floral Explosion" quilt for two reasons: 1.) All 7 different fabrics are floral themed and 2.) the ragging reminds me of fireworks
Here are pictures of her quilt:
