241  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / lobster of death!! on: December 13, 2005 05:11:00 PM
this is ignatius.

once upon a time he was a normal beanie baby lobster.  but then he found out how cool it was to be evil and so with a little effort he grew himself some wings!
plain black fabric, padded with unrolled cotton balls, and inforced with wire. then i embroidered the wings.
its hard to see on the pic, sorry for the bad quality. hope you like it!
242  CLOTHING / Costumes: Completed Projects / my galadriel outfit on: December 13, 2005 09:45:14 AM
hey all!
this is my first project to post here so i hope the picture works.

well, for the return of the king I made my self a galadriel gown, but not just any old elven gown, oh no.. this is the gown she wears in Fellowship of the ring after frodo says she can take the ring and she turns all green and scary.
the base fabric was muslin that i dyed with rit, and then I got some cheap lace and dyed that too. then i just shredded them and sewed all the strips on the dress.  the bodice is duct tape that i then painted with acrylic paint and smeared. all in all i think it turned out pretty good considering I was making the whole thing up.

PS. I painted my hands and face green too. but my expression in this picture is hidious which is why the happy little smiley face is here to save the day.

i finished my jayne hat the day of dragoncon and i wore it there. There were a couple people with jayne hats in different styles. yay for knitting. Grin

(plus I asked  Adam Baldwin to touch my hat, so he held it for a bit and then he sniffed at it, just like jayne would do!)
