1  Fabric first, idea later in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by quackedup on: March 09, 2015 02:39:40 AM
i dont usually do home furnishings but got myself some great furnishing fabric on sale (of course) and some cheap cushion fillers without covers.
as the general process goes - hoard the fabric first then decide how to use it later  Cheesy

Cushion covers can be removed for washing  Smiley

3  You are never fully dressed without Perfume... a Perfume Bottle that is! in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by quackedup on: September 23, 2013 07:12:28 AM
My next challenge was to make a box clutch in the shape of a perfume bottle.
A couple of luxe designers made some perspex oversized perfume bottle bags and i thought it was super cute and ladylike and really brought something to their outfits.

So i set out to design one that would work with what i know how to make.
Something abit vintage/art deco.

I made this clutch slightly wider than the previous grapefruit clutch, so it can fit even more.

My biggest challenge was the bottle top. Of course, i wasnt content to just make it a simple rectangular topper or a regular rectangular body either, i had to try something a little bit more interesting. It was hard  Undecided

The main part is silk twill and its slightly padded on the front and back and the name plaque is hand embroidered (because i dont have an embroidery machine; too big (all my space is for shoes Cheesy) and they are super exy!)

check it out

and the inside, vintage print fabric, left over from a pair of pants i made previously  Wink

here is my original sketch of the design (abit out of proportion)

4  A clutch fit for ...breakfast! in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by quackedup on: July 31, 2013 04:29:16 AM
Getting in on the box clutch trend, i made myself a grapefruit clutch!
Originally it was supposed to be an orange, but i already had this dark yellow fabric so it turned into a grapefruit.
Im really happy with how it turned out, even though there are some things i could have done better.

fits my card wallet, phone, lippie and keys.. just Cheesy

Gives a nice pop of colour and quirkiness to an outfit
...and now i know canvas is really prone to fraying and collecting fluff and dirt Wink

Hand embroidered name in metallic silver thread

Inside! I put in a mirror in the lid

5  Not your traditional sewn bag: Flower Pot Bag/Clutch in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by quackedup on: May 17, 2013 04:35:36 AM
Hi
im a long time lurker.. and finally thought this was good enough for a post  Smiley
Its an idea based on age old french art of cartonnage/fabric covered boxes which i self-taught recently.

Fuschia pink on the outside with foam rose heads
and inside, i lined it with my favourite umbrella girls fabric for a contrast.
