21  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Re: Thermal from Knitty on: February 04, 2007 10:54:24 AM
I didn't read through the entire pattern, but it looks as though the armhole and neckline are shaped at the same time, so maybe you could work more of the armhole before you start the neckline shaping.  From the picture and diagram it appears that the neckline is almost even with the bottom of the armholes.

Either that or you could perhaps fashion a sort of a false cami to go under just the scoop neck area so you don't have to actually wear an entire shirt under it but you won't be flashing everyone if you bend over too far.  Not sure how well that would work under a knit sweater, though.

Not sure if I'm making any sense whatsoever. . .

I really like this sweater too, but I'm iffy on the yarn.  I'm fairly sensitive to wool so I don't know if the Gloss would be soft enough.  The Palette is definitely too scratchy, but I made my dog a sweater out of Patons Classic Merino that feels *almost* soft enough for me to wear, but not quite.  I'm hoping the silk and merino blend would be soft enough, but I'd hate to get the yarn and then not be able to use it.

I might have to look for a fingering weight cotton to use instead. . .

Either way, I'd love to see what everyone comes up with for this pattern.

Trashed--I can't comment on the prices but I think the pictures could be cropped a little more.  There's a lot of background showing, and the dark colors are a little distracting.  They'd be less so if the ring was shown more close-up.

I had this site in my bookmarks and I remember it having fabrics from different countries.  Is this what you're looking for?

27  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: All of Jo-Ann's Clearance Fabric - $1 on: January 31, 2007 08:28:17 AM
The girl at the cutting counter asked me what I was going to make, too.  I have some vague ideas and made sure I got enough of each to make at least a skirt out of it, but that could all change.  At a dollar a yard, I can make a dress for $6 or $7 including zipper and thread and stuff.  Can't beat that . . .

Thank you to whoever posted this!  Not that I need any more fabric, but I went this morning and managed to pick out 30+ yards of fabric.  I just got a new cabinet to hold my sewing stuff and it's now full of fabric.  Yippee.

And, for anyone who happens onto this thread, the signs posted said the sale was good until Feb. 3.
29  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: I'm So Proud! - Long Grey Wrap on: January 17, 2007 02:13:14 PM
If I had come across that pattern without seeing your finished wrap, I wouldn't have given it a second thought.  Now I have to remember this as a possible gift for any of the women in my family.

That is an absolutely gorgeous wrap.  I love that stitch, whatever it is. (Hint, hint)  I've been neglecting my crocheting lately in favor of knitting, but if you let us know what the pattern is, I may have to dust off my hooks and give it a try.  Your swap partner is very lucky!
