Hello!! I'm a youth worker and in a few weeks I'm going to be taking a group of teenagers away for a weekend and I'm running a craft session one morning. Does anyone have any ideas of what I could do with them? It's a group of 12-16 year olds with limited crafting experience and a mixture of boys and girls.
Hey everyone! I'm trying to find out how many people would be interested in a UK based swap, similar to the US Fill a Flat Rate Box swaps. If you're interested, please leave a note either here or on the swap idea thread here - http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=295584.0 Hope to see you there!
So, I've been looking at the flat rate box swaps that they do in the US, and I saw that there had been discussion about doing one in the UK but it never really got off the ground. Would anyone be interested in doing one now?
I just made a scrapbook of photos from a gap year I've just finished, but I've no idea on how to bind it! To make matters even harder, the pages are all different sizes and some are made from fabric, so I really have no idea!
Basically, I need a completely un-ordinary way of binding this - any ideas?
So I got this T-shirt about 2 years ago from a sailing camp that I used to go to and it was a man's medium, and I'm not. I turned it into a dress and wore it a lot in the last two years but now my style's changed, so the T-shirt needed to too!
The front says "Messy" and the sailing camp's web address
(Sorry about the bluriness) The back reads "Have you journeyed to the springs of the sea? Or walked in the recesses of the deep?" (That's Job 38v16 - it's a Christian camp)
Only thing that I would really change is to make it have a higher neckline - sometimes I don't want to wear another top underneath! In reality (I wore this on a day trip to London today) the sleeves fall down quite a lot but I like it!
Basically, I live in a house with 6 other girls and 4 guys. Us girls want to give something to the guys to just say thank you for being them and looking after us. They're really protective of us and really kick off if someone does something to hurt any of us girls.
Anyway, we're going to make them a red, heart-shaped lemon sorbet each (inside joke, don't ask!) and get them a giant card between them from all of us. Any other ideas?
So, 13th October is mine and the boyfriend's 3 year anniversary and I'm stuck as to what to get for him. So far I definitely want to make a card centered around the "We go together like Jack and Jill, Fish and Chips, etc" idea and I want to give him an iris (as in the Goo Goo Dolls song, one of our favourite songs and also happens to be the first song I ever heard/saw him sing on stage (and he sung the lines, "You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be and I don't wanna go home right now" looking straight at me! *Melts*))
Anyhoo, here is some information about us to help you out... - I'm 18 and he's 19 and neither of us have a lot of money - We're both Christians - He's incredibly camp, practically gay in everything apart from sexual orientation! - He has a naturally good taste in clothes - He's a musician, specifically a singer, more specifically a worship leader, but also plays guitar and piano - He loves extreme sports, especially skateboarding, long boarding, inline-ing and bmx-ing - He's not a gaming geek (unfortunately, otherwise this would be much easier!) - He loves building things - He can be very romantic, but I don't want to get too mushy on him - We're very serious about our relationship. As in the main reasons why we're not already married is because of a lack of money and I'm not sure if I want to get married before finishing (and definitely not before starting) University. - Oh yeah, and it's not 100% sure if we're going to see each other actually on our anniversary. Work sucks.
And now here's the main problem - in 18 days I'm moving 4 hours drive away from him (instead of 10 minutes walk). He lives with his parents and I'm going to be living with 11 other Christians about the same age as me, so I don't want to give him something either he or I will be embarrassed about.
My main craft is sewing, but I also knit and do pyrography (burning pictures in wood), plus I draw, take photos and do a bit of writing, but I'm ready to try anything!
I think that's everything I can tell you, thanks in advance!
PS And yes I have read the Generic Boyfriend Gift thread! All 60million pages!
(Sorry I think I look incredibly uncomfortable here, but it's a better picture of the dress!)
The pattern I used was Butterick 3080 (which is now out of print - yay for working in a fabric shop!) You can't see it especially well, but it's a wrap around halter-neck dress and the back is open down to the waist. I really enjoyed wearing it with the exception of it being quite windy before we got to the ball and because it's a completely wrap around dress... you kinda see the trouble I had!
The person who needs an angel is ivycircle. She likes how dragons are all different, her favourite colours are blue, teal and red. She mainly sews and does a little bit of spinning and would really love to receive clothes.
Thanks in advance!
Thank you to knittinfiasco for volunteering to be our angel!
