21  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / Baby Blankets on: May 02, 2012 10:45:14 PM
I was not sure where to post these, so if anyone can enlighten me please do! If not, here they shall stay  Smiley

My sister and her partner, and my brother and his partner, had baby girls two weeks apart! So far all I've had time to make were these blankets. First time working with satin binding and mitred corners, so I'm pretty happy with how they turned out  Smiley

22  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Color-tastic girlie girl dress on: May 02, 2012 10:37:48 PM
My friend was getting married and wanted a bright, colorful, tulle, sparkly number for her wee princess to wear. This was the finished result. I hope to get pictures of Miss Eva in it soon!

23  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / tonnes of tulle tutu! on: May 02, 2012 10:33:58 PM
My friend requested a knee length tutu (she was a ballerina once upon a time). So I made her one  Smiley

24  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Sweet Summer Dress on: May 02, 2012 10:30:38 PM
I found this dress at goodwill and loved the 80's feel of the floral pattern. I started of by taking in the bodice, but HATED the way it looked  Undecided I was a bit bummed and at a loss when I thought I'd hike it up so the waste band was over my boobs; and I liked it! So I just gathered up the bodice and stitched it in place. I cut off the spaghetti straps and sewed two new thicker straps and attached them onto the dress. It had a side split that now came up to my hip, so that got stitched closed. I'm pretty happy with the end result. Oh, and I added a little belt to synch the waste.

here's the frumpy before:

25  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Denim skirt on: May 02, 2012 10:22:15 PM
I suddenly felt that I needed a denim skirt. I had an old pair of jeans ready for the job. I didn't want to do the regular unpick and overlap the crotch seams deal, so I searched online and found a different way. I can't find it again, but I believe it was on the eHow site. You know the one where they give you the instructions in steps and you tick them off as you go? Anyway... I cut off the legs a few inches longer than I wanted the skirt to be. Unpicked the front inseam up to the bottom of the zipper, and the back all the way up to the waistband. Then pinned it together, tucking away the crotch that you'd normally see overlapping on the front and back, and stitching straight down the front and back. Pinned and hemmed the bottom, and bob's your uncle!

No pattern, I winged it; using my dress form. The trickiest part was the zipper, and that wasn't hard  Smiley
29  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Pinafore on: March 13, 2012 04:21:19 PM
I had this check fabric in my bag for the longest time and had no idea what to make out of it. Then it dawned on me. Pinafore. So here it is.

close up... the picture really washed out the blue colour. Even my black shirt looks purple  Undecided

Thanks so much for sharing - I ended up making this dress, it was too easy not to give it a go! I think I was done in 15 minutes! And it looks great!

It's ridiculous how easy it is to make!
