1  Illinois / Illinois: North / Northbrook public library craft supply swap! on: January 03, 2013 08:49:33 PM
If you live in the northern suburbs, this might interest you.  It's a three day event.  January 25th and 26th are dedicated to dropping off old crafting supplies that you have no use for.  January 27th you can go to the library and pick up supplies other people have turned in.  I don't know anything about it beyond that, but I will be taking the opportunity to destash a bit.   Wink

2  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / Rubber Duckies on: July 29, 2010 04:19:22 AM
What kind of paint works on a rubber ducky?
3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / So, I had been planning a garage sale... pic heavy on: July 29, 2010 03:16:08 AM
My mom brought out the boxes of jewelry that we always attempt to sell at garage sales.  While I looked through the boxes, I started to get idea's of how some of the things could be better.  The frenzy began:
This was a clip on earring.  There were two, so I glued them onto rings

I had these buttons

the leaves on this one are from a bracelet my mom had.  All the "pearls" are from a necklace I took apart.

Sorry the picture quality is so poor.  Digital cameras are not my friends.
4  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Pride & Prejudice & Zombies AND Sense & Sensibility and Sea Monsters on: May 03, 2009 10:04:49 PM
ok, so I haven't read my copy yet, but I think it would be a great theme for a swap.  We could even have it be open to any Jane Austen book , like Persuasion & Zombies, or Like Emma and Vampires or something.  The whole Gothic Novel thing.

Potential books:
5  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Tooth swap? on: May 05, 2008 12:02:52 AM
I've been spending a lot of time at the dentist, lately, and have, as a result, developed a healthy new respect for my teeth.  I thought it would be fun to do a tooth swap.  Tooth plushies, cartoons, tooth brush jewelry, decorative retainer holders, tooth fairy pillows and boxes, etc.  It would be a good swap for people in the dental field, people with braces, and people, like me, who just like teeth.  If you Yahoo image search for "tooth craft" you come up with all sorts of cute things!
6  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / cinchy hat on: March 14, 2008 11:16:22 PM
so I knit this in the fall, and am finally posting it, now that it's not hat weather, anymore.  Go figure.

the cinchy hat from knitscene fall 07.   sucky in the bathroom pictures.  Oh well.   Wink I used size 7 needles, even though the pattern called for 6's, and I used lionbrand Woolease.  I'm very proud of my hat!  I added the button of the little girl, because they just seemed to belong together.  I bought the button at the Renegade Craft Fair in Chicago, this summer, and I'm trying to remember the name of the artist, so that I can give her her due!
7  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / knit Hurley on: March 09, 2008 12:16:10 AM
I love LOST, and I did a LOST craft swap, and I knitted my partner a Hurley doll.  I wish I'd kept him!  I miss him!

I used the S&B Knit your own rockstar pattern, and, well, widened it a bit, hehe!
8  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Transformers swap? on: July 09, 2007 11:28:37 PM
Now tell me you didn't go see the movie and not walk out thinking... "Ok.  I need an 'I Heart Bumblebee' t shirt."
You know you want this swap!  It could be for old transformers or new, or both.
9  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / The Light of Earendil on: May 05, 2007 09:41:40 PM
I did a Lord of the Rings swap with Gomeriffic in the Invite Your Partner swap, and I made her a Galariel bottle.  I guess this is kind of a houseware, though I wouldn't use it as your full time lamp:

Trust me, it actually looks cool in real life.
10  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Knit Gandalf on: May 05, 2007 09:33:41 PM
So Gomeriffic and I did a Lord of the Rings swap for the Invite Your Partner swap, and I knitted her a Gandalf the Grey.

I used the Knit Your Own Rockstar pattern from Stitch n' Bitch Nation, and faked out the robe and hat.  I wish I had gotten a pic of the hat.
