Great idea, I love these. How did you get the paper to stay on? And did you put anything over the top to help weather proof them?

23  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / cardboard doll bed. on: January 24, 2012 06:16:43 PM
I have seen stuff like this before, and I though I would give it a go. Its not very 'pink princess like' but my daughter loves it all the same. My niece lives with me as well, so I probably end up making another one so their not fighting over it.
I just took an old box cut it up to fit on of my daughters larger/taller barbies (some are shorter, like the tinker bell dolls) hot glued all the pieces together then took some old pieces of fabric and cut them to fit over the head and foot board. then took the same fabric for the sheet. made the pillow, which I glued onto the bed so she wouldn't lose it. Then cut some old lace for the bed skirt. And Ta da! Cinderella is already napping.  Grin

so cute. how did you make the platforms? also did you take out the zipper to put in the fabric inserts? I have a plaid pair like these, but mine have a zipper. I love yours though, super cute, and hippy like. =)

few years ago, I cam across this neat little idea. So I though I would make on too. I had most of these scraps already form old projects. I did pick up half yard on some of the orange and and yellow just to give it a bit more, but it was just a little and I got it on sale =) However, that lace trim was a bit more spendy ten what I wanted to pay. And Joann's ran out, so I had to wait for them to order more. But I love it! Its heavy to pick up, but feels pretty lite on, and its very breathable. I have made two more like it, a jean with white cotton (the jean is from left overs from cutting my kids pants to shorts) and I made another black one. Those two I only did the 2 layers, so there a bit shorter. I would love to make another soon. Maybe useing bigger squares to help save time.
