1  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / x-stitching--beginner on: October 21, 2004 06:34:33 PM
hi all,
i really want to try counted cross stitching, but i'm a bit intimidated by it. i'm not *all* that handy with embroidery, and i'm still working on learning to knit. i want to do some photoshop-generated patterns, but is it much more difficult than it looks? if anyone out there wouldn't mind talking a little about their experiences with this craft, it would be really helpful!
2  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Dog Shampoo Bar on: October 06, 2004 05:06:13 PM
as in, bar of soap, silly. Smiley
Can anyone help make my dreams of Dog Shampoo in bar form a reality? My husband and I just got all these X-mas soap-making supplies from the Scent Shack, and now I'm inspired to make something for friends' dogs. I don't even know where to begin with this...Any ideas?
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Weirdness with first scarf--help, please!! on: September 05, 2004 06:26:52 PM
i'm knitting my first scarf--knit one row, perl next. my knitted row seems to be magically increasing, so that i have this very neat diagonal and my scarf is falling off the end of my needle! so now i'm decreasing during the knitting row, but it seems like its still happening. maybe i'm accidentally knitting something on the end of the row that i'm not supposed to? what will happen if i just drop that last stitch?
is this weird, or what???
4  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Discussion and Questions / good SLR camera??? on: August 01, 2004 07:42:55 AM
i'm taking this film photography class--which i love--but our 25+ y.o. konica died. i went out and bought a minolta maxxum 70, but...i don't know...i'm not really quite into it. the shutter button needs to be pressed pretty hard and the metering also seems unneccessarily convoluted. can anyone offer any good recommendations for a (cheapish--i mean, less $$$) film camera they absolutely love?
thanks so so much,
5  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / ChessBoard Table on: January 24, 2004 07:56:17 AM
Hi Everyone,
I'm trying to turn an unfortunate-looking table into something pretty...I'm envisioning glossy black legs and a decoupaged surface. What I really want to do is make a chess table, and I have lots of questions...My first, though, is there any sort of transparent material that I could use to make the little squares, so that a larger board-sized image could show through???
