1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / wrapping a stone/cabochon using macrame - HELP on: March 11, 2013 11:15:10 AM
I have to admit, I rarely post here because I am somewhat intimidated by the amazing things you all come up with here in this community. I mostly read and browse for inspiration and find my tutorials/ask for help elsewhere. But I am stuck and can not find an answer to this one - help!

I have been doing macrame for a while now and have a fairly decent understanding of it overall, however I can not for the life of me figure out how this type of wrapping is done.

I have used this: http://www.free-macrame-patterns.com/pendant-setting.html
this: http://ecocrafta.blogspot.com/2013/02/macrame-wrapping-technicmedium-stone.html
and this: http://beckinka.blogspot.com/2012/07/how-to-wrap-stone-using-macrame.html

and i understand how to actually wrap the stone, but what im missing is how you get from that^ to this: http://theselkiefolk.wordpress.com/2012/11/05/macrame-workshop-how-to-cradle-a-stonehow-to-extend-from-a-cradle/

I understand how to do the "extension" part that comes off of the stone, but I don't understand what do you do with/how do you tie off/get rid of the strings from the initial wrap? do you incorporate them into the extension? This is what I assumed at first but it just doesn't look quite right to me for some reason. On mine it makes a gap on the top. Or do you just tie them off and cut them off? It's such a small detail in the overall piece & process but it's tripping me up so much. I feel like I'm probably missing one minor (but very important) detail & have become hugely frustrated - help!
2  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Introduce Yourself / a newbie from maryland on: December 16, 2011 03:57:41 PM
started to get back into crafting recently and thought it might be fun to get active again in a forums. I'm learning to crochet, i do a little origami, beaded jewelry & macrame, collage, enjoy drawing and doodling, painting, and sometimes photography. anyway thought this place seemed interesting.

i was looking for like a "main forum" or "intro to craftster" "tips and tricks, welcome" sort of place to start and ended up here. so hello!
