21  Re: Dishalicious Dishcloth/Washcloth Swap Round 5 in The Swap Gallery by gizmonic on: July 25, 2008 04:31:14 PM
Myklia has received and she asked me to post some pix:

Here you are.

What Myklia would have seen upon opening the box.  Dishaliciousness carefully wrapped up.  Bubble wrap -- bonus!

And now, the dishaliciousness.  Revealed.   Grin

I sent her a crocheted cloth (my 2nd one ever crocheted), the ever-popular garterlac, a crocheted heart bookmark, a ball of self-striping cotton (if you haven't used self-striping yarn before, buy some NOW!  It's da bomb, as the kids say Cheesy ) and a Christmas Story ornament:  it's the Bumpus hounds stealing the Christmas turkey.  She's a mondo fan of the movie.

What a blast I had making these for you Myklia.  You're a great swap partner and just a really sweet gal.

Woot! WTG Myklia! Cool

To keep you motivated:
I present to you, in all its wonky goodness, Garterlac no. 2, a still-life w/bamboo:  Wink Cheesy

Here's another bag I made for a personal swap.  It was the first time I made it w/the pocket.

Folded up nicely (back)

25  Re: Newbie scarf along in Crochetalongs by gizmonic on: May 31, 2008 05:41:42 PM
Wow, everyone's scarves are coming along nicely.

Imagine, lovely color and the little poufs on the side add a nice flair -- even if they are "mistakes"!  Smiley

Bubblegum, your kitties have learned the fine art of deconstructing your scarf?  How rude of them!   Cheesy  Tell them to get their own hooks and make something!  Leave your scarf alone. Grin

I have some updates for you.

She's about 6 rows wider than the last pix.  Yep.  I have curling issues.  Bad. Undecided  Honestly, I don't think I could frog it at this point...I didn't notice the curling until I was well underway.  Tongue Sad

Maybe blocking it may minimize the curl.

Stitch closeup.
I've done 3 rows single crochet, 3 rows half-double crochet, 3 rows double crochet (at least I think so Tongue)

I'm still plodding along....

26  Re: Personal/Private Swap Gallery May 2008 in The Swap Gallery by gizmonic on: May 30, 2008 07:32:41 PM
Before I head off to bed I just have to post pix of the wonderfulness I received from Kirstilynne:

Two fabulous oversized magnets

"Otter Smoochies" -- how adorable is that?!  Kiss

Next, gorgeous pictures of animals at the Two Rivers Wildlife Park, Cape Breton.  A place I must visit sometime.  Kirstilynne has a real talent for photographing the animals.

I wish my pictures didn't look quite so washed out.  Tongue I eliminated the flash -- too much bounceback on the pictures

Next, is assorted candy, chocolate and fun little goodies like snowman earrings, a bunny popcorn art (I'm sure to have fun w/that!), mini bunny clothespins, a lovely heart-shaped keyring

After that is...MORE Trinkets!
She made me two Flying Spaghetti Monster necklaces, a necklace from Kiki's Delivery Service, and the most fabulously wonderful shrinky-dink charms/trinkets (the animals are based on CraftyAlien's knitted creations!)  How great is that?!!

Here's me wearing the FSM necklace

Oh, almost forget!  She made me a decoupaged bracelet, too.

And she packed it all up in a cereal box!  Got a kick out of that!  Grin

Here's my flickr link if you need bigger pix: http://www.flickr.com/photos/gizmonic/sets/72157605348190511/

Kirstilynne, what an outstanding swap this was!!  I really enjoyed it and am thrilled to bits of everything you sent!  You are the best.  Kiss Cool  I can't believe you got all of this from my wist...it's like you know me or something!  Wink Grin

Oh this'll be fun!  Everyone's ami's are adorable!  Cool

Count me in.

Here's my first ami, Walter.  I made him a couple of weeks ago

And please meet Paul the octopus.  He's just arrived at his new home w/kirstlynne, so now his pic can be posted.

Ami's are addicting...I need to make a whole bunch!

Thanks for looking

I Sew Cute! Welcome to this Scarf Rip-along! (Yeah, I'm having trouble beginning... I think I ripped it 5 times now!  Tongue)

I Sew Cute, glad to have you!  Commiserate w/us as we tackle crochet!  Cheesy

"Scarf Rip-along"  *snarf!*  Grin  Yep, I've frogged a few times now and here's what I have:

Here's another:

I've done 3 rows of half-double crochet and now going into double crochet.  I liked the awesome scarf that Dragmaster09 made by crocheting longways...thought I'd try it that way.  Yep, the rows seem tedious and neverending but I'm digging the way it's developing.

And I have plans to hide any mistakes with lots and lots of doo-dads  Wink Cheesy

Hi everyone!  Newbie hooker here Smiley

Submitted for your approval, my 1st crocheted cloth:

Stitch closeup:

I'm mostly self-taught and still fumbling a bit (not sure where to put the hook, maintaining tension, counting stitches, stuff like that) but I'm pretty pleased w/this cloth.

I love everyone's work here ... and Zelda.Suicide, yours are amazing!  Cool Shocked

As promised, some more delightful cloths!

Look at the lovelies Bioform Callie sent:

Don't know if you can tell but there's a knitted bobble in the middle of the flower.   Cool

Thanks again BC!
