Hmm for food maybe simple things like milkshakes, coke, cheeseburgers ect?

I was thinking of going to a retro diner to eat. But I like the idea of milkshakes! We'll make those, that's be fun. Cheesy Also, I noticed your Jones Soda in your profile picture. (Great picture by the way) We could have those as drinks since they usually have a vintage themes shot in them, and they are black and white and glass bottles.. oh maybe coke glass bottles as drinks as well! Smiley Thank you so much for your idea. HUG. Cheesy

One fun game you could play is to pick a bunch of well-known old movie stars (enough movie stars so that each of your guests has one).  Give a movie star to each person WITHOUT LETTING THEM SEE WHO IT IS, and have them tape it to their forehead so that others can see who they have.  People can ask other guests in the room "Yes or No" questions about whoever is on their forehead.  For example:

Person A:  Is my movie star a woman?
Person B:  No.
Person A:  Does my person have blonde hair?
Person B:  Yes.

However, this game may not work if your guests do not have a lot of knowledge about old movie stars.

Good Luck, and Have Fun!

Oh I think that's a wonderful idea! So simple yet so fun!:) I will for sure use it. I'll try to add really popular well known actors/actresses just in case. But my friends mostly know most, so hopefully it turns out! Thanks so much for your idea! Cheesy

Hi there! Smiley

Alright, so for my 18th birthday I am going to have a Vintage birthday party. So, here are some of my ideas:

- guests arrive in vintage/retro clothes
- listin to records on my record player
- watch Breakfast at Tiffany's, Singin' in the Rain and other old films
- For decorations all I really have is a bunch of Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, Elvis Presley, etc pictures hanging in my room.
- Maybe have pink and chocolate brown balloons. Or better yet, black & white polka dot balloons (if those even exist tee hee)
- We are going to make stencils on shirts/bags of vintage hollywood stars

If you may, could you please help me out on thinking of any more ideas please. (Decorations, food, activities, dressing up, etc.)And your opinions on what I have thought up so far.

Please and thank you. Cheesy

Likeable wallpaper?  I TRIED!  I couldn't find scraps of wallpaper with a fruity pattern ANYWHERE.  I was so disapointed but the dots worked.  The girls loved them.

Haha, it's good you tried. I am proud of you for that. Smiley No fruit wallpaper?! I always see crummy ones in the dollar store. But I would want bright colourful ones to match the them. I still LOVE the dots!! Cheesy

7  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / Re: I Need Ideas And Suggestions For A Hollywood Themed Party on: August 29, 2006 08:02:23 PM
Well, this year at prom we had a Holly wood theme. Here are some ideas. Smiley

Refreshments
Well, when you think of HOLLYWOOD you think of champagne. SO maybe get some plastic glasses, and fill them with some fizzy drinks, like sprite, 7-up, etc. Also a bowl of punch will do.

Decorations
Red carpet! That's what we had. Ours was plastic and preety cheap at this party store. Lot's of sparkly objects set around the hall. Like red, black and silver (our colours) balloons, and ribbon. Lot's of christmas lights. You can stick up some movie posters as well.

Invitations
Get some gold or silver paper and make it into an envelope. Or make a big movie ticket out of some construction paper, and at the back write in your party information.

Clothing
Vintage clothes! Like (Junebug* mentioned, a Marilyn Monroe dress would be perfect! Very glamorous. Maybe some pearls added on as well, and pumps! Smiley If there are some guys, get them some top hats you could even make out of black bristol boards.

Favors
I'm not quite sure what this is but I'm guessing that maybe you could give out awards, like they do in the Oscars and such. Your friends have many qualities, so give one out for best hair, or best advice, etc. You know them better than I do.  Grin

Anything else you have ideas for
Get your family or friends to be paparazzi (it was actually kind of funny at ours, you feel like a movie star!). Your "paparrazi" could have those cheap disposable cameras to use.

Music, some great Hollywood music, old and new. From Broadway.

Watch some great Hollywood movies, and have some popcorn in those old fashion bags!! Smiley

Hope this helped. Smiley

wow 6th graders have a prom?  Wink Cheesy did not know that...!

Haha, that's just what I was thinking. Smiley

Anyways, to answer the question. There are many forums here that may give you some themes to help you along. They are great examples, because they show you how to make crafts and decoration sand stuff as well! Smiley

Here is a link with some themes: http://www.party411.com/prom-themes.html

When you're theme is picked, then you can think of many many more ideas. Many games, contests (like sticking a paper with a number under everyone's chair, then the person with the lucky number wins a prize.) Of course, dancing and food. If you decide on a theme that you would like, post it up here again and we'll help you even more with some more ideas!! Cheesy Goodluck.
